Its been this way for a long time but what happened in this culture that they don't hate women like most of the world?

Having been to Iceland and Sweden, I'd say it's because they have a more feminine orientation when it comes to life. They live in a country where most don't have to worry about crime, energy demands, air pollution, paying for education or healthcare or childcare, etc. Like most Scandinavian countries though, it does have a fairly high suicide rate, so there's that.


By contrast, most individualist/capitalistic/consumerist countries have a hyper masculine orientation, which drowns out the less outspoken (i.e women and 'beta' males), so they're taking their sweet ass time getting around to equal pay.

I'd say this is more a result of women being involved than a cause.

Has more to do with the high latitude. Alaska has a really high suicide rate as well and there was a study that found a correlation between latitude and suicide within Alaska for a more fair comparison.

Chicken/egg scenario. Post WWII, Scandinavian countries had a golden opportunity to put incredible wealth (i.e.. from long standing, powerful monarchies) and democratic/progressive values to work, but in a way that was aimed at promoting societal equity, as opposed to wealth maximization (every man for himself mentality)- socialism lite. They played the long game, and it's worked for them. It was a collective decision to invest in social programs like healthcare and education, at the expense of a Wall Street like culture they'd probably suck at anyone since they're so small and beige anyway. It took until 2018 for the equal wage stuff to happen, so it wasn't like this happened overnight. Iceland also benefits from being an incredibly homogenous population that's allowed multiple generations to have a super cushy safety net and produce healthy/productive/sane members of society that have all drank the same Kool Aid, and they're quite happy being a society of mostly middle to upper middle class folks that own nice homes, nice cars, plenty of vacation time, and a government that will actually take care of them if shit hits the fan. Icelandic tourism is absolutely booming right now, so that obviously helped accelerate this cause. Women are ALWAYS involved in a society in a plethora of obvious and subtle ways, so acting like Iceland is this unique case of utopian progressivism is kinda dumb.

No shit. Denmark has been off/on the list of 'happiest places on earth' for a while now. My point was that no place on earth is actually a utopia. Interestingly enough though, countries like Finland (super socialist and feminine oriented) and Singapore (harsh guiding hand of social/economic control) are cleaning up when it comes to education. Funny how progressive and arguably regressive societies can still educate their societies effectively. Shit, even China and Korea are running laps around the US, and while they're totally different educational models than what you'd find in Finland, shit is getting done there infrastructure-wise. The US would behoove itself to experiment more, but unfortunately, we're too big, too diverse, and too unwilling to even consider compromising for much to change. Your homeboy Trump is doing a bang-up job of pitting everyone against each other, so there's that. If it all crashes and burns ala WWII, maybe we can pick up the pieces while following different sets of models that actually work. One of the biggest knocks on the US is that it always sees itself as the ultimate innovator of rugged independence. That shit was cute in the 1950s when only the mega rich or people serving tours could see the rest of the world, but this is 2018. You can get to Europe r/t for under $300, Asia under $500, and even Australia can be under $800 if you know what you're doing.

Legislating equal pay is easier said than done, even in a country comprised entirely of Nordic egalitarians and with a population smaller than that of Raleigh. We've had the Equal Pay Act on the books for more than half a century, and our progress - though extant - is hardly what might be hoped over that period of time.

I saw an op ed on wired dot com where this lady was butt hurt men own over 90% of the Bitcoin wealth. Haha. Who's fault is that. Could they not invest 6 years ago?
