yep. dug both songs.

The Father John Misty album has really grown on me a lot. I enjoy that pretty much from start to finish.

Also been listening to this s/t album by a band called Moaning today. Kind of some sort of post-punk, noise, shoegaze project.

I'm really digging the new Courtney Barnett & Father John albums, and really into the Parkay Quart[s/z]

I haven't listened to it enough, but the new Breeders seems pretty cool too.

the new father john misty is a grower and it has definitely grown over many listens now the past couple of weeks. i'd put it behind honey bear in album ranking, but it's a very good record.

If these first 2 deafheaven tracks are an indication of what the rest of the new album is like, this is looking like album of the year material for me.

yep. got 3 full streams in today and I really, really like it. I've seen mixed reviews on the track with chelsea wolfe but i absolutely loved that track. The album doesn't feel quite as cohesive as sunbather and new bermuda did, but it makes up for that by being their most ambitious and uncompromising album imo. A lot to digest here but no disappointment so far.

I've been listening to it in the background at work today. So far, of the new tracks, Glint really caught my attention. Great last three minutes similar to canary yellow

CalledToArms, I feel like your musical taste is constantly evolving and I'm saying that as someone who can't seem to evolve their taste anymore. I'm stuck listening to pop or dream pop nearly all the time. Also, I listened to Post Malone recently and felt weird but not bad about it. I'm not sure what's happening to me.

Honestly, I just spend a lot (most likely too much) of time hunting down new music and listening to it. It's almost equal part hobby to the actual entertainment side of it.

Ultimately I find lots of things I love and it exposes me to a lot of things I might not have found passively which is what makes it worth it to me. However, it also of course means I spend plenty of time listening to albums i ultimately do not like along the way and I take time to write notes on the albums I listen to and which ones to come back to etc. I find the payoff to be worth it, other people might not. If you're still getting enjoyment out of mainly pop and dream pop, there's certainly nothing wrong with that.

I’m a SiriusXM subscriber and have heard lots of bands for the first time on XMU and their blog radio/special shows

they are as guilty as most radio stations are of wearing out certain songs during their regular shows, but the blog radio shows are excellent

Also agreed on Candy Claws. Ceres & Calypso in the Deep Time is an album that is far too underappreciated.

Looking forward to checking this one out. They seem to be the 'chosen ones' of the current hardcore scene. Prior releases reminded me a bit of older DEP.

I don't seek out much new hardcore these days, but the new Jesus Piece is shapely up to be incredible.

CalledToArms- Have you listened to the new Hopesfall album? I think I know the answer to this, but what do you think?

Damn, an amac884 sighting!

I actually dig the new hopesfall album. I wasn't sure what to expect sound-wise but it's a solid album. My main complaint is that it kind of sounds a little same-y over the course of the whole album. However, my favorite hopesfall stuff is still The Satellite Years and No Wings to Speak of era. But post that era, this is analogous with Magnetic North in quality imo.

What did you think of it?

Also, would love to hear what you think of the Vein album. Seems to be getting mostly positive reviews, but I've had a few people I thought would love it not be able to get into it at all.

anybody listen to Doug Paisley? I'd heard his name, but I dismissed him because I confused him with the shitty faux country singer Brad Paisley. But I heard an interview with him on NPR yesterday, and he seemed interesting, kinda John Prine-y. I'm going to have to give his new album a go.
