Got a TON of tomatoes coming in. Got a few beans. Lots of hot peppers growing but none to eat yet.

How did you start your beans? I tried 3 times and failed every time.

I started almost everything from seed in tiny starter containers. I soaked the bean seeds overnight. I tried several inside first, and they got "leggy" from not enough light, so I had them outside (and brought them in all those spring nights that got close to freezing, and when it rained).

yeah, put them in a cup of water, swirled them around, and let them sit overnight.

I've got 8 tomatoes planted in a strip of dirt between my house and driveway. I bought a container of seedlings to pot last year and almost threw out two that I didn't have room for but instead planted them in that spot where they outperformed all of the others. Kind of surprising because that part of the yard is 4"-6" of mulch on top of clay, but they love it.

The pots are mostly for cucumbers this year. I've got 4 that I grew from seeds that have completely taken over the railing on the back porch.

Dang, no thread since 2018?

What are yall growing? I've got several different types of tomatoes, some are doing well, others are shit. Got three kinds of string beans (green bush, purple teepee and dragon tongues), they had a burst at the beginning, and have been tapering off recently. Red okra started slow and is picking up. This year I did two kinds of cowpeas and lima beans for the first time, i wish i had planted more, they're doing well. Some sweet peppers are almost ready. I did 4 or 5 different hot peppers, a few peppers have started, but they're a ways from being ready. I also tried a few tomatillos, a few flowers here and there, but no fruit yet.

been renovating/remodeling my house so no time for a garden. but i will get to do the landscaping from scratch, so that'll be a big and fun project.

also, been planning to plant a few muscadine grape vines in the yard but haven't yet.

I discovered last year that I have several musodine (scuppernong?) vines over in a natural area. A few years ago i had some large trees cut down, so I think tat allowed some old vines to get some sun for the first time in a long time. I collected a good amount last year, and I pruned them and hope to get more later this summer.

my roma tomatoes have popped the hell off this year. been peeling and vacuum sealing them and throwing them in the freezer

serranos and cayennes also going wild, just bottled a few batches of fermented hot sauce

eggplants didnt do too great to start but have come on strong in the past few weeks.

bush beans didnt do shit, only a 1/4 of them germinated and then while they flowered, they didnt produce any pods that contained beans.

For whatever reason I hardly got any muscodine (scuppernong?) grapes this year compared to last year, and I'm not sure why. I trimmed some of the trees around them to try to allow in more sun, and I trimmed a few of the vines, but I didn't touch a few. But I hardly got any. Not sure if was the weather, or birds, or if the y're cyclical and produce better some years than others?
