So I know this is a pretty old game, but I didn't see any threads out there for it.

Wow what a great story for a game.

Has anybody seen the trailer for the new one coming out? Pretty intense.

Just got this for Xmas, a few hours in now on og PS4. I’m almost in tears sometimes at how well made the world in this game is. Storytelling-wise this is the pinnacle of gaming, and possibly drama in general. There’s really a striking difference in polish and finesse between this as Cyberpunk. Great game if you’re thinking about picking it up... only thing I would caution is that it’s a constant depressing atmosphere (being post apocalypse and all)

I got it not too long after it first came out, started it, then couldn't get anywhere because kids usurp all of my time. I want to get back into it though.

I've decided I'm gonna get myself a PS5 (just as soon as I can find one for retail price) for the primary purpose of playing these games.

Is a ps4 more stable/reliable or something, or is the main advantage just being cheaper? I'm not a big gamer, but I don't want to miss out on potential future games I might be interested in.

Ah ok, I was going off your primary purpose, maybe my mind translated as sole purpose. Long story short those games are fine on ps4, but yea if you're worried about future games that's another story.

Thanks! I've never owned many gaming systems (Atari 2600, Nintendo Switch, and Oculus Quest I/II are all I've ever had, not counting PC) so I am looking forward to having more game options available with a new PS5.

The important question is does your planned location have a color anesthetic that will go better with black or white!

But yea LOU will probably also look at least a little better and maybe load a little quicker on ps5.

I'm also curious to check out PSVR at some point (and I know you can do that with either system). I've had a lot of fun with Oculus VR, but there are some interesting titles on PSVR only, like Resident Evil.

Not that many folks get into physical media these days, but if you're going to get a PS5, and you don't have an HD Blu-ray player, get the PS5 with a disc slot.

Thanks! I've tried learning about the different options in just the last couple of days, and I was planning on the one with the Blu-ray drive anyway. I do have a Blu-ray player, but it's hooked up to a TV and most of the movies I watch are watched on my computer instead (and I plan on using that same monitor for the PS5), so this will be more convenient for that.

Anybody have any idea when PS5 stock is supposed to come back? I teach during the school year and have limited time for gaming then (but I do have some--I just started playing Ghostbusters remastered on the Switch) but my goal is to have the PS by early May when I'm free. That seems like a reasonable time span to me, but I remember waiting for months and months during the early pandemic to have a chance to buy a Quest for my niece and nephew; stock was completely dry at the time.

Seeing PS 5's huge gigantic main body, I lose interest and seriously doubt it will attract fans from Switch. Hard to say about its stock.

I've been regularly checking vendor websites for PS5 stock lately. Had a good feeling about today when I heard Walmart was getting new stock this afternoon. From 3:00 to at least 4:30 they were releasing stock every 10 minutes; I was reloading the page trying to add it to my cart as soon as it was available, but no luck at all. It would go out of stock as soon as it was released. So I ended up biting the bullet, paid some extra, and bought it through Stockx this evening; cost me $780 ($694 + shipping and fees). Supposed to be here in 2-3 weeks.

Got my PS5 today, along with a few games for it: Sackboy's Big Adventure, Demon's Souls, both Spider-Man games, and The Last of Us. Dabbled a little with each game tonight; TLOU definitely had the most intriguing beginning, but I think I might play Sackboy first and save the others for the summer when I have more time.

I did have one question: I just use the same monitor that I use for my PC, just switch out the PC and plug in the PS5. The monitor has no speakers, though, so I connect speakers separately. My Nintendo Switch has a 3.5mm audio jack right in the system. I was a little surprised that the only such jack I found on the PS was in the wireless controller itself (I didn't see one on the actual machine), so my wireless controller ends up wired to the speaker. It's a minor inconvenience, but I would prefer the controller actually be wireless. Anybody know any simple alternate way of connecting my speakers without having to wire it through the controller? (Without paying extra money to buy new wireless speakers or anything).

^Oh, I'm already sucked in, I just want to save it for when I have more free time to play it (otherwise, when I play a game during school, it's not unusual to have a period of weeks when I'm just too busy to play and I forget what the fuck's going on).

Having said that, I didn't find Sackboy that intriguing, so I went with Bioshock as my first game instead (I'm loving it, but I'm not as hyped to play it as TLOU, so I'm OK if I have a lag and forget what's going on).

Finished Bioshock tonight and immediately began playing The Last of Us. Loving it so far (I got to the point where he picks up the young girl to be smuggled before I quit for the night) but, as usual for me with new games, I feel like I'm missing a lot as I get accustomed to the interface and controls.

explore every nook and cranny in TLOU and TLOU2. Spare parts, ammo, supplies - all of that stuff is hiding in drawers, lockers, cabinets.

I may play through TLOU2 again this summer. I was spent after my first play through. I absolutely loved it.

I followed a guy on Twitter that talked about playing the survivor modes which just sounds like a nightmare, esp for part 2.

I played part 1 again before part 2 came out but I can't imagine playing part 2 again. I enjoyed it but it's way too long to play twice imo

^^Thanks, that's the way I usually play by default, but I know some games have some goals on a timer, so that kind of fucks me up in my usual methodical, inspect-everything approach.

Y'all see this shit about a remake for PS5?

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-04-09/sony-s-obsession-with-blockbusters-is-stirring-unrest-within-playstation-empire

Absolutely wretched. Even with the generational leap in power, I can't see how remaking this game so early in the PS5's lifetime could possibly be better than just, I don't know, developing a fucking new game!

They could make it really immersive with the Tempest 3D audio, but I'd rather see that explored in new games...like fucking Resident Evil Village!

The faster loading speed isn't even something you'll notice in The Last of Us in the first place. Go play Remastered on the PS4. It takes like 15 seconds to load. I bet it's faster with Remastered on the PS5.

Graphically, a remake could improve some things quite a bit, but I doubt most people would notice or care. Remastered still had some low-detail geometry in its 3D assets and relatively poor lighting for a late-stage PS4 game, but who the hell cares about putting more triangles in some pipes? The Last of Us 2 had much better lighting and shadows, but that doesn't seem worth a remake to me, especially since the expectation will be at least one graphics mode with ray tracing.

So what the hell else could possibly be the draw for a PS5 remake? DualSense features? I mean I love the controller and all, but come on, that doesn't justify this kind of waste.

And on top of it all, we've already seen other PS4 titles like Ghost of Tsushima get patches that offer improved performance and graphics on PS5 without needing a native PS5 build, so it seems like releasing a similar patch for Remastered (and 2) would be a much easier win. The problem is that couldn't sell it to you.

Finished the first game last night; I loved that, one of the best games I've ever played. Love the story, and liked that the gameplay was a good mix of fighting, sneaking, and scavenging/exploring. I'm gonna play the Left Behind short next, but I don't want to rush through the whole series too fast; after LB I'm gonna check out Demon's Souls before I check out The Last of Us 2.

I have zero interest in this remake, as a huge fan of the series. But the ps5 basically has no games that show it off, the ps5 exclusive catalog is paper thin, and they’re probably desperate for any content.

I’ve been playing Horizon on my ps5, that I got for free with plus, that I never picked up on ps4.

Just wanted to pop back in here to mention I finally got around to starting part 2 last night (never did really get into Demon's Souls after all; managed to beat the first boss but then it really started whipping my ass and it looked like it was gonna be a bigger investment in time than I wanted to spare. I instead played the 2013 Tomb Raider, then Fallout 3 (both of which I enjoyed, particularly F3) and now I'm finally back to LOU2.

Still working my way through LOU2 (and I think I've still got quite a ways to go), but I've been thinking about what I want to play next (I'm trying to get as many games in this summer as I can). I'm strongly leaning toward the Uncharted series, but I've also had my eye on Days Gone. Anybody here played that one? How well does it compare against LOU?

I haven't played DG but Uncharted is pretty fun, the storytelling is obv way different but they do a decent job of keeping things interesting

One of them has a level that is known by many as one of the hardest, bc it's poorly designed, things in gaming (kinda like TMNT underwater bombs). I got through it but think I just got lucky.

Days Gone is alright. I've played about 15 hours. Its emotional moments tend to fall flat in comparison to TLOU, but the gameplay is solid. It's very different from TLOU and Uncharted, it's an open world game and doesn't have the scripted, on rails segments the other two do.

Thanks! Since my last post, I looked and found that Days Gone is available for free through PS plus (or PS now, not sure which) and so I checked it out for about 10 or 15 minutes. Definitely looked interesting, and I generally love open world games, but I think I'm gonna play Uncharted next just for a change of style, then come back to Days Gone.

I did manage to finish LOU2 last night; that was fantastic, I really enjoyed that! Afterward I immediately jumped into the first Uncharted game. It's definitely different and at first I didn't really care for the feel of the controls, but I've grown more accustomed to it, have warmed up to it and I'm enjoying it as well (though not as much as LOU 1/2).

The whole series is essentially Tomb Raider but a little more lighthearted and with more gunplay. And over the top action sequences.

I actually learned about it only recently when I was searching for Indiana Jones type video games, and then I learned it was from the same company as LOU.
