http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/02/07/tennessee-sheriff-boasts-about-fatal-shooting-ordered-love-this-s.html

TL;DR: Sheriff was recording bragging about giving a kill order:

Quote :
"
“I love this s---,” he said, according to the tape. “God, I tell you what, I thrive on it.”

Then he’s heard laughing.

“If they don’t think I’ll give the damn order to kill that motherf----- they’re full of s---,” he said, according to the tape. “Take him out. I’m here on the damn wrong end of the county.”
"

The TWW officers can post and tell us that not all police are like that - we know this. But it just takes one to make you all look bad.

I don't have anything at all against police. I fully support what they do.

But damn it, I hate seeing crap like this. When will people learn.

At this point, everybody should just assume there is a camera or a mic on.

^

Its the police rolling up into someone's own apartment, killing them, and then only getting a 10 year sentence.

Its the police shooting people in the back as they run away - and not getting prosecuted for it.

Its the police hiding outside while a school shooter kills a bunch of classmates and then being allowed to retire.

Its the police, on camera, choking someone to death in front of tons of witnesses, not getting prosecuted but getting fired, and then having the ability to sue for his job back.

Its the police unions constantly defending all of those who do these things, and saying the police were in the right to do so.

etc, etc, etc.

Isn't pretty obvious that the laws governing the police and military are meant to defend them regarding violence and murder?

That's kinda what I was getting at.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/crime-courts/chase-shootout-involving-hijacked-ups-truck-florida-leads-multiple-deaths-n1096871

Robbers hijacked a UPS truck and took the driver hostage. Police killed the two suspects, the UPS driver, and a bystander while they used occupied cars as human shields.

Of course the media obscures what actually happened and won't name the cops as the murderers.

19 cops from 5 different agencies shot over 200 rounds toward the truck, knowing a hostage was inside.

So is it for sure that bullets from LEO's are what killed the bystander and hostage? Also what are LEO's supposed to do if they are being shot at in this situation?

not to play my back in Europe card,

But back in Europe, the new thing, because guns are hard to find, is to hijack large vehicles like a UPS truck and then go to a busy street and plow through people. Was that going on here?

Based on the fact that none of the news articles say the robbers fired first, we can assume that the cops fired first. And for the UPS driver at least, who was inside the truck, I think it's pretty obvious which bullets killed him (it was the hundreds fired at him by the police).

Even if the pigs didn't shoot first, I would suggest that the two innocent people involved would rather not have been killed in a shootout over some boxes of inanimate objects.

NBC Nightly News showed raw footage of the shootout last night and then censored the same footage 30 seconds later

certainly looked like the cops went wild with shooting while the carjacker was in the doorway

Not referring to that, that is very unfortunate and careless.

I am talking about being pulled over, cops with arrest warrants, or cops called to your area/house because of a suspicious report. Just let them do their job.

The sergeant saw that the driver, 25-year-old Marico Ferrick, was in possession of a driver’s license belonging to a retired police officer.
The sergeant tried to detain Ferrick, who police said put up a fight. Eventually, the sergeant used pepper spray on Ferrick, who spit it back in the sergeant’s face.

that's my wolf web response.

dude was helping kids. helping other humans. more that most rich white men do. and he had some pot. ok it's legal in so many states now. i don't use cannabis but it has been legalized in multiple states and it's way less harmful than drugs like alcohol or prescription pain killers. but he is a black man and OMG a rapper... arrest arrest arrest! (sarcasm... our society is fucked.)

You want the police opening fire in the direction of your car while you're in it? Think for a moment before you answer. Hell, take a few hours. I know you're slow as hell.

Those cops are more than likely carrying a low caliber pistol, and plenty of them had a good shot. So, yeah, I'm just trying to figure out why it took them so long to bring the dude down.

I still think that this video is in fact an accurate depiction of a major problem that the police force currently has to face. They just don't seem to have a good procedure in place to deal with ppl that are either resisting arrest or who are otherwise confrontational with the police. Normally, they either escalate the situation with deadly force or stand back and try to talk the dude out of it which ultimately is another way of letting the situation escalate itself.

It would be interesting to get a casual opinion from the police on this matter. It seems like using options such as dogs or having a designated marksman (similar to the European police forces) would be great alternatives to explore.

Dogs can be a great benefit to the police force. I don't know why they aren't used more often for crowd control, which is done heavily in Europe, or for chasing some psycho down that's trying to harm other people. I am sure that there is an "explanation" out there, and I'd like to hear it.

Why did this discussion devolve into shooting a man getting into a private citizens vehicle? That's not what happened here.

[Edited on January 15, 2020 at 11:37 PM. Reason : I watched a little of the video and it looked like the dude was trying to swing the machete at a cop]

[Edited on January 15, 2020 at 11:39 PM. Reason : Banjo makes good points but in this situation they are poorly placed.]

[Edited on January 15, 2020 at 11:40 PM. Reason : Although dogs need to stop being used by cops.]

I am certainly not trying to defend cops for using deadly force or even advocating for that. Period. There is a time and place for everything, and when I see a manic dude running around in broad daylight, swinging at cops and jumping into other people's cars with a machete, I see a situation where dogs or a designated marksman would have been much more effective.

Yes, I get that trained dogs typically cause damage when they bring somebody down, but that outcome is much better than the other alternatives such as a shootout, a high speed chase, or killing a dude just because he didn't want to go to jail and tried to make a run for it.

The main goal should be to do your job quickly and efficiently without causing any unnecessary harm, especially when somebody is resisting arrest. Approaching somebody over a warrant or suspicious activity should under no circumstances result in an unarmed person being shot and killed.

The problem is that in this case, they decided not to shoot him whereby he ran around terrorizing innocent people and nearly chopped a guys head off. Then in other more notorious instances, they go to issue a warrant and either shoot or choke him to death just because he won't get into a car.

On the other hand, I've seen German cops (on multiple occasions) beat the shit out of somebody that wouldn't get into a cop car after giving two very clear warnings. Isn't that better than the alternative? Or are we going to entertain the notion that people should argue with the police when they show up and say that they have to detain and/or arrest you?
