UVA had soooo many chances. Bases loaded with one out, next 2 batters struck out on 6 consecutive pitches. Then in the top of the 11th they had runners on the corners with 2 outs, batter check-swings on a 3-2 pitch in the dirt, called out.

so the game against UVA on thursday is meaningless. Hopefully we'll pitch Harrison and Bienlien and let them throw as many innings as they can so we can save as many good arms as we can for the FSU game.

The ACC wants the Friday games to matter, so that's when all but one of the 1v2 pool matchups are happening (didn't work out with UNC). Clemson and UNC got much more favorable schedules (with off days in between) since they are the top 2. This is especially dumb with meaningless games being played in-between.

Take out those meaningless games and this is a single-elimination tournament with the top 4 teams getting a bye. If that were the case, this could have been the schedule:

Tuesday: 7 v 10, 8 v 9
Wednesday: 6 v 11, 5 v 12
Thursday: (7/10) v 4, (8/9) v 1
Friday: (6/11) v 3, (5/12) v 2
Saturday: 1 v 4, 2 v 3
Sunday: Championship

A couple teams would still have to play back-to-back days, but at most only 3 so it's no worse than a regular weekend series. And up until the championship game, every matchup would involve teams on the same rest (except for the byes).
