New thread for Tony Parker

Breaking: Tony Parker has agreed to a two-year, $10M deal with Charlotte, a league source tells Adrian Wojnarowski.

Seems like a good way, along with the new head coach, to try and model your franchise like the Spurs, I guess.

Saw some speculation this might mean a Kemba trade is in he works...But I don’t really see it...Parker is getting up there in age and only averaged 19.5 minutes/game last year, and hasn’t averaged over 25 mpg in a few years...so I’m assuming Charlotte wouldn’t lean on him to start if Kemba was traded.

Yeah, Parker is gonna be a backup.

Also I guess this means the hornets aren't going to trade for Leonard.

Tank so that Jordan and company can make more terrible lottery picks. Genius!

I mean they both had similarly shitty contracts, so that's basically a wash. But at least Biz can be a solid defensive presence. Mozgov is a pretty useless player.

Everybody loves Bismack, so it's a win for the Hornets marketing folks if nothing else. Start Zeller and let Biz be an energy guy off the bench.

He plays his ass off and rebounds everything, so he'll help with the hustle plays. Also gives the Hornets a sorely-needed rim protector, because Zeller and Frank ain't blocking shit. He sets good screens on offense and will have the occasional nasty put-back jam, but that's about all we can expect out of him. He's got no jump shot and a set of concrete blocks for hands.

In other news, Malik Monk is done after dominating one game of summer league ball with a sprained wrist. Sucks, but he'll be back by the start of camp. It could have been worse.

yeah i feel like Bismack brings a little more to the table than Mozgov at this point. plus, Charlotte got a couple 2nd round picks out of it.

I might, but it would definitely be a game-day decision for a cheap seat.

The hornet this year is a MONSTER. They have potential to enter semi-final conference game in the playoff. I know it's a bold prediction b/c they have never played semi-final since 2002, which is 16 years ago. But I'm positive to those young guys

New coach is already impressing me. Love that they moved Batum to SF instead of SG, and that they're trying Frank at C instead of PF. Also glad he's bringing MKG off the bench to be a 6th man/instant energy guy

Speaking of -- our bench is going to be a lot of fun to watch this year with Monk and Bridges (both have looked great so far) along with Parker and MKG.

Wonder if they'll make a move for Jimmy Butler...

Bacon and Graham are also fun to watch.

And they fire Cho and get a senior GM.

That seems like a Kupchak move, trading significant assets for a guy you have a zero percent chance of resigning in free agency. I fully expect this to happen now.

Well it's pretty silly when the players/coaches/support staff live in Charlotte and they have a perfectly fine practice facility there.

New GM in, old GM out. Since the Hornets hired Mitch:
vowed to not tank
Fired Cliff
Traded Howard to the Nets for Mosgov and some other stuff
Then traded away Mosgov and some other stuff for former Bobcat Bizmack Biyombo (sc)
Drafted Bridges and Graham
Hired Borrego
Signed future HOFer Tony Parker

He has done a lot! Preseason game 4-1 is impressive, considering they beat Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics (nearly twice), Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls. Those are all championship teams. I have full expectations to the new season.

Hornets is gonna save Carolina professional sports. They beat Magic by 30, and now they are 20 pts ahead of Heat just at the beginning of the 3rd Qtr. It's back-to-back trip to FL.
Panthers and Hurricane are not doing so well so far.

Hornets are 1-1 with a chance to go to 2-1 if they win tonight. Panthers are 3-2 and Hurricanes are 4-3. Seems like all of the teams have comparable W-L records.

Two former hornets are now working in China.

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2784389-al-jefferson-reportedly-agrees-to-contract-with-xinjiang-flying-tigers

https://www.asia-basket.com/China/news/551567/Tyler-Hansbrough-is-a-newcomer-at-Golden-Bulls

Big AL is in Xinjiang and Tyler is in Zhejiang. There should be good chances for them to come back.

Really like how this team is coming together this year. Bridges was definitely a sleeper and he has great aggressiveness/confidence.

Kemba has really come out firing which is awesome to see. Unfortunately, the team still has the reputation of being where washed up players go to die and it's going to take a lot to overcome that.

Kemba was guarded tightly, he couldn't get the ball. So Batum passed it to Marvin, and he missed the shot. That's it. Very disappointing ending. Zach Lavine was a freak, he scored a lot. At the last minute, it was pretty much just Zach versus Kemba.

Kemba Walker is now the No. 2 scorer in the league, just behind Curry. Amazing. Although I hope more players can step up to share his burden.
