i'm expecting this to be terrible if it's anything like the preview, jack ryan is not an action hero, he is not jason bourne

they make it look like his character is more exaggerated jack ryan jr. than jack ryan

Yes, although Clear and Present Danger gets it pretty good too. If they wanted to have an action series, they could have focused it in John Clarke/Chavez and have it center on Rainbow

I've read a few reviews on whatever has been released to critics (2 or 3 eps?) and the general consensus seems to be that it's pretty strong. I'll give it a shot.

^^^i thought patriot games was pretty close to the book too

i didn't think clear and present danger was good but that may be because clarke and chavez were way different in my head

if you want a more action oriented version of jack ryan then the jack ryan jr. series are good (jack ryan jr. is a financial analyst + jason bourne). I think Mark Greaney does a good job with jr. (probably because he cowrote a lot of books with clancy) but the grant blackwood books feel like they were written for another character and are over the top and the Mike Maden books are just kinda bad in general. all of the john clarke books are good.

If I forget I know anything about Tom Clancy, is it good?

It almost helps if you're not familiar with the books. It feels like a mix of 24 and Homeland

It's a really short season and at the end it seems like they might love more towards jack ryan sr. with Greer going to Moscow

Seen first 2 episodes. I like it. Not bad. Not that I have some extensive collection of TC books on the character though.

Agree with the 24/homeland. I like it. Some plot holes.

Like how come the bad guys could track the CIAs location on the game and the CIA couldn’t track their location.

Also still have 2 eps left to watch.

Was really enjoying it, but really hated episode 7.

I'm going to get over it and finish the series, but honestly going to have to turn my brain off to buy into the shit they're pushing at the end of that episode.

So so many plot holes, most egregiously, the dude who gets blown up by the drone and ends up coming back. Like, just have some other henchman go after them. We weren't that invested in "Bleeding Gums-Abdula's" character that much.

Overall, I definitely recommend it though. One of the better series I've seen this year.

I really enjoyed the first 6 episodes but felt like 7 and 8 went off the rails.

Enjoyable show but you have to just try not to think about the plot too much.

That being said, the characters are likeable(I already liked the main 2 actors) and I'm on board with another season.

it's like they were writing for a full 10 or 12 episode season, then at some point while they were doing episode 6 amazon told them, lol jk you only get 8

Really enjoyed it, however one scene in the series almost took me out of it. I'm not sure what episode it was, but there is no way, no way no way no way that they would've allowed wireless internet access at that safe house. Unless that generic game console had some kind of 4g connectivity, it was completely unrealistic.

There were tons of plot issues like that throughout the show. They got worse as the show went on. Not taking the president to Walter Reed after he got sick made the show turn from drama to comedy for me.
