I've read articles about Netflix ramping up their comedy lineup to rival HBO's, and it looks like they're doing a pretty good job. Thought I'd make a thread to talk about them.

Just watched Ron White's latest and thought it was garbage.

Watched all of Iliza Shlesinger and thought they were all pretty good, some much better than others, but she is enjoyable to watch/listen to.

Dave Chappelle has two specials and they were both pretty good I thought.

Tried to watch an Amy Schumer special and had to turn it off.

Any other suggestions? I see that they just put up an Adam Sandler special but I don't see how his standup can be funny these days.

they’ve already dwarfed HBO in the comedy department

the Sandler special is getting good reviews and I’ll check it out at some point

the Chappelle specials are really, really good and are already aging well

John Mulaney’s Kid Gorgeous is probably my favorite special they’ve released so far, and I liked the Honeymoon Standup Special

I really enjoyed the Steve Martin and Martin Short special. Also loved Kid Gorgeous.

Hannah Gadsby was good, but probably also something rjrumfel would rage turn off.

I don't turn off tv because of politics. That's crazy to let politics get in the way of good funnies, although I still think Michelle Wolfe went a little too far...that's about as offended by politics as I'll get.

I enjoyed The Comedy Lineup. It’s got a bunch of different comics with just 15 minute sets, so if you don’t like someone you can just skip, or it will be over pretty quickly. The Ian Karmel episode was quite funny.

Chris D’Elia has a couple good ones. I thought Joe Rogan’s latest special was pretty good too, a little over the top with the Sam Kinison like yelling though

Second (or third ) John Mulaney. He has a couple shows on Netflix, all of which are hilarious all the way through.

The Norm MacDonald talk show is funny when he has male guests. Weird how that works.

Also enjoyed Iliza Shlesenger.

I've tried watching the Jim Jeffries show a few times, and like Trevor Noah, I just don't think he's very funny.

Sorry to post twice in a row. Can’t say the recommendation from Vice is bad. Outside of making fun of the guy from Empire, which I found pretty funny(in last like 10 minutes)...was pretty meh. A few laughs, but overall meh.

I watched some of the Chappelle special and while there were some comedic moments in which telling truths of America are delivered, the overall special felt forced. I had to turn it off about 20 minute in. Maybe 30 minutes.

^,^^

both were really good. have to give it to Burr out of the two, but this Chapelle was better than his last two.

I was pretty disappointed by the Aziz one. Hopefully, he rebounds after he feels like he isn't under the microscope anymore.
