I never liked pimento cheese growing up but now I love it. Think it was a combination of trying cheap/bad pimento cheese early on and taste changing. Especially like it on burgers

I loved pimento cheese when I was a kid

Then when I was 6 or 7 I got a pimento cheese sandwich at the gas station. Something was bad in it and I puked my brains out for the next few hours. I wouldn't touch the stuff

until the age of 23-24. It is amazing. Fuck outta here with that.

Not only is it delicious, but incredibly versatile. Bonus points for a spicy Jalapeno pimento

Love pimento cheese

Especially like the palmetto cheese brand you can get at most grocery stores around here. Their jalapeño one is my go to.

I had never had pimento cheese until age 23 and living in rural Virginia, but goddamn if that pimento cheese grilled cheese wasn't one of the best I've ever had. There's a brand out of Charlotte called Queen something or another that makes my new favorite.

Are you buying discount pimento cheese from food lion that's like half mayo and half american cheese or something? Pimento cheese is great.

Make this recipe if you think you don't like pimento cheese
Quote :

Ingredients
2 cups shredded extra-sharp Cheddar cheese
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper (optional)
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced (optional)
1 (4 ounce) jar diced pimento, drained
salt and black pepper to taste

Directions
Place the Cheddar cheese, cream cheese, mayonnaise, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, onion powder, minced jalapeno, and pimento into the large bowl of a mixer. Beat at medium speed, with paddle if possible, until thoroughly combined. Season to taste with salt and black pepper."

NOTE, do not buy pre-grated cheese. it has powders on it to prevent it from clumping that also prevent the flavors from marrying together.

That powder is cellulose. Essentially sawdust.

The kraft cheese process (also known as kraft pulping or sulfate process)[1] is a process for conversion of wood into wood pulp, which consists of almost pure cellulose fibers

Grated cheese is one of those things you should never buy.

Ever.

Do y’all buy blocks of cheese and grate as needed? Or grate it all at once and then have a stock of it on hand?

grate as needed, a block of cheese lasts a lot longer than grated/shredded cheese

although i still buy grated cheese if i'm just making basic tacos or something

Grate as needed.

You can grate and freeze if you like having grated cheese at the ready. Cheese freezes fairly well.

Yeah grate as needed was what I assumed. But it’s good to know to freezes well. Wouldn’t have thought of that.

Not a big pimento cheese fan. Palmetto is aight. i also dont judge people for having different taste buds either though. Olives taste like garbage to me but every one else i know loves em. I dont get it but I dont want everyone to be without olives that they clearly love because I despise them. Meh to each their own.

Harris Teeter makes decent pim cheese you can get near the deli. Good for when you aren't in the mood for all the grating.

This is the correct take (and I agree about olives).

You don’t like what I like? That’s ok. You wanna put ketchup on your steak? Fine with me. Eat what you want!

Baha im so far from liberal but i dont mind if people like pimento cheese or olives. Enjoy your what i find to be disgusting food choices but i wont judge you. Thats what makes this country great. I just eat what i like and pass by the dishes that dont fit there. Im not vegan, vegetarian, meat heathen... i just have no issue eating with folks who like things i dont like. I think liberals are the ones that you need to worry about expressing the opposite. And i hope you all who love olives and pimento cheese enjoy it to its greatest glory that i cant understand.

I recently went to Applebee's for the first time since probably college. Someone gave us a gift card. It was ok, but a little gross. Exactly what I expected.
