I don't think it was an endorsement, per se. He was talking about all the candidates who have appeared on his show

Andrew Yang draws contrasts with rest of field on new health care plan
The businessman said he supports the "spirit" of Medicare for All.
https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/andrew-yang-draws-contrasts-rest-field-health-care/story?id=67766942

https://www.yang2020.com/blog/a-new-way-forward-for-healthcare-in-america/

so he "supports medicare for all" but doesn't really

his single payer page is gone? has he given up on single payer entirely? am i reading this right that his plan doesn't even include a public option? even biden has public option (which i'm not advocating for), is yang still just depending entirely on private insurance?

Quote :
"Explore ways to reduce the burden of healthcare on employers, including by giving employees the option to enroll in Medicare for All instead of an employer-provided healthcare plan."

he has this on his page, but from the page i have no idea what "medicare for all" actually means to yang.

holding further comment for now, but I'll just post the opening paragraphs of that post

Quote :
" We are having the wrong conversation on healthcare.

Instead of addressing the underlying problems driving unaffordability and access, we Democrats are spending all our time arguing over who is the most zealous in wanting to cover Americans. Over who has wanted to do so longer. Over who cares more about the health of Americans.

We talk about how we’re going to pay for it, but the reality is we’re already paying for it. We pay for it when we can’t switch jobs. We pay for it when new jobs are temp or gig jobs that don’t provide healthcare. We pay for it when all of our prices are higher. We pay for it when healthcare costs drive us into bankruptcy.

To be clear, I support the spirit of Medicare for All, and have since the first day of this campaign. I do believe that swiftly reformatting 18% of our economy and eliminating private insurance for millions of Americans is not a realistic strategy, so we need to provide a new way forward on healthcare for all Americans.1

As Democrats, we all believe in healthcare as a human right. We all want to make sure there is universal affordable coverage. We know we have a broken healthcare system where Americans spend more money on healthcare to worse results. But, we are spending too much time fighting over the differences between Medicare for All, “Medicare for All Who Want It,” and ACA expansion when we should be focusing on the biggest problems that are driving up costs and taking lives.

We need to be laser focused on how to bring the costs of coverage down by solving the root problems plaguing the American healthcare system. "

Aside from that conversation, it appears we have another "influencer endorsement"

^^ that's what I posted -- but what the hell does medicare for all mean to him?

i previously thought he supported some form of single payer, but that seems to have disappeared?

later in that same link he has the part i quoted:
Quote :
"Explore ways to reduce the burden of healthcare on employers, including by giving employees the option to enroll in Medicare for All instead of an employer-provided healthcare plan"

but earlier he said he didn't really support medicare for all as a practical matter, so what does medicare for all mean for yang in that quote?

does it mean public option (if you have private insurance you don't have to pay anything towards medicare)? is this medicare for all and everyone will pay for it but private insurance is still allowed to exist? this is not an insignificant difference and i can't tell which is his position.

it seems like it's maybe a public option, but that doesn't square with his arguments (or is it not his argument?) for why the freedom dividend should go to everyone including the rich.

so, does yang support single payer? public option? the status quo private system with the incremental changes on his website? he has somehow made his healthcare plan less clear, not more clear

My so who doesn’t spend her time all day on twitter and Reddit like I do likes Yang the best based on the debates and news media.

She basically orders everything from amazon and feels bad because she knows it’s displacing jobs and revenues from local economies, but it’s too convenient. Yang is the only candidate who has a solution to this problem. No other policy would allow the amount of revenue to flow to rural areas like yang’s.

This would be transformative for the suburbs and rural areas and any other community that gets overlooked for government investments.

my freaking left of center stepdad is now becoming a yang person. i told him i don't have anything personal against yang, its just that most of his supporters on my facebook act like they are super bipartisan type folks, when in reality most favor the right and just want an excuse to tell their friends they support a democrat because they are so ashamed of trump.

the convo started:

him: " you know who i'm really starting to like??"
me:" oh god, let me guess...yang??"
him: "yeah...I think he really understands how technology will affect US in the future"

can you elaborate on what this means to you and why it's an important consideration. don't we WANT people to vote for Democrats (or against Trump at least?) no matter what their past choices or beliefs have been? what's the use in looking down on these people who are now willing to vote differently?

most Americans are tired of the constant political warfare between the Democrats and Republicans. the parties spend more time fighting each other than doing anything meaningful for the American people. and they have been very successful at dividing us against each other over ideology and other issues.

people are sick of it and it shows in the numbers. rejecting the false dichotomies of today's politics is a big part of why Yang's platform has been successful, and why he's drawing support from across the traditional party and ideological spectrum.

I can't speak for StTexan but my guess is that there is some concern that if Yang is the democratic candidate, then things may fall apart since he isn't backed by the democratic party machine. He acts more like an independent (IMO), so the democratic base might not be able to rally behind him and get mass voter turnout

Personally I like him since he isn't establishment and seems to speak logic. I just find it hard to see the democratic party system getting behind him - but somehow trump won under a similar scenario. /shrug

I mean, I don't think Yang or any of the other candidates believe the Republicans will experience a post-Trump 'epiphany' as Biden said and immediately start cooperating with Democrats.

But if we operate on the belief that there is 0% chance that the Republicans will work at all with a Democrat President, then what are we even having an election for? Won't matter whether it's Biden, Bernie, Warren, Yang or anybody else. None of their platforms would be achievable. So are we just going to give up?

At least for Yang, the Freedom Dividend is more bipartisan than many other proposals coming from Democrats. It's more akin to Social Security, which has VERY high public opinion approval, and which both parties claim to champion for their constituencies.

So are we pretending that the Obama administration didnt happen? No republicans will help a Democrat advance their agenda, that's our reality.

That doesnt mean that support across party lines is bad, for example Sanders' populist message (despite making no sacrifices to appeal to the right) will appeal to people across party lines and similarly so will Yang, but Yang is okay with the parts of the right that really hurt Sanders in the past (let's call it the reddit/4chan right).

Yang appeals to a coalition similar to the Ron Paul coalition, which to me doesnt seem like a good base to make changes.

Also I'm still not clear on Yang's healthcare position even after spending time on the Yang subreddit, it appears that even Yang supporters are confused with regards to where Yang stands on M4A, a "public option" or a no string public option

What the GOP did to obstruct the Obama administration still makes me extremely sad and frustrated. My hope at this point is that the divisiveness between the parties has reached such a boiling point with the American people that it simply won't be sustainable during the next administration for this to continue the way it has the last decade. I believe the number of GOP retirements is a reflection of this turning point in the Republican party. I believe Bernie's appeal to be reflective of this same boiling point for Democrats. But whereas Bernie and his supporters (and much of the left frankly) have taken the #NoMiddleGround stance, I believe the rising support that Yang is seeing is rooted in a different reaction to this problem in the country. People are sick of the political divisiveness in this country, and the "Not Left, Not Right. Forward." approach signals a desire to move past all the fighting and start focusing on getting things done again. Again, I don't think it's gonna be all flowers and sunshine once Trump is out, but I think the American people are looking for an option that pulls us back from the brink, before our democracy self-destructs. and a timely reddit comment on this theme

still holding on to this smear from March, huh?

I get the lack of clarity, I do. I can't say much to counter this confusion aside from what has already been posted, but this section of his 10 hour Q&A is a good summary of his plan. The first 30 minutes of the video have a lot of additional context as well.
