God I hate touch screens.Looking forward to official introduction of this car more than any other EV in memory, however I'd still rather have a Panamera, which it should be noted, Porsche is still marketing (and pricing) above the Taycan.
9/4/2019 7:54:18 AM
I don't know who would buy this. Costs more than a comparable model S, has 1/100 of the charging network, has no autonomous modes. The one thing going for it is a nicer interior, but I can't see that justifying the price.

^ Cheaper lower powered base models, as in non-'Turbo' and non-S. Read my post.Got Elon to tweet twice!https://insideevs.com/news/369152/musk-tesla-porsche-turbo-taycanMocked the use of Turbo, plus challenged the Taycan's Nurburgring record for a sedan by promising a Tesla on the circuit next week.
9/6/2019 3:17:06 AM
Any Porsche Turbo is cool, it's even cooler with Internet of Things.
9/6/2019 10:33:15 AM
But they called it a turbo. How fucking stupid?
9/7/2019 12:22:43 AM
Worth a read.https://jalopnik.com/an-extremely-detailed-look-at-the-porsche-taycans-engin-1837802533Goes into great detail about the engineering, including how it can do acceleration runs ad nauseum unlike the Tesla.

My boss is getting one, will probably rent one when they start showing up in LA... Def not buying one

Porsche Turbo with IOT device
9/10/2019 9:21:41 AM
How many times are you going to repeat that?
9/11/2019 9:11:15 AM
IOT is just a buzz word. It's a tech trending now.
9/11/2019 9:19:23 AM
Hot damn, that's some crazy specs and performance numbers https://insideevs.com/news/371379/tesla-model-s-plaid-production-startOh well, back to the drawing board, Porsche.

9/17/2019 7:14:30 PM
^ 1) The Turbo S and Turbo have the same power, just a different level when boost is activated, which lasts only 2.5 seconds.2) Elon is saying the production version will have even more extreme performance than the prototype.3) ~20 sec is a long time, and in light of the two points above, I don't think it can be bridged.(this is of course with the assumption that Tesla did the full lap and not the shorter bridge to gantry lap; where did you get your first quote from?)

are people really arguing over lap times around the ring as if they're somehow relevant to why anyone would buy either of these cars?
9/18/2019 3:16:58 PM
^ many tesla fanboys definitely arein various twitter threads about tesla's alleged and unannounced lap times supposedly besting those of the taycan, many fanboys are saying as soon as tesla officially announces lap times, all those who have put down their name for the taycan (some 40K) will withdraw and purchase the tesla.others are saying that if the tesla really is quicker around the nurburgring than the taycan then there is no reason for anybody to buy the taycan anymore... as if anybody was going to spend 2x the amount because of lap times to begin with
9/19/2019 2:00:44 AM
you buy the porsche because you value the interior and/or brand equity. you buy the tesla because of the value per dollar, charging network, and auto pilot
9/19/2019 3:19:23 PM
Oh damnhttps://insideevs.com/news/371866/tesla-model-s-plaid-time-nurburgring
9/19/2019 11:52:42 PM
^^exactly. Most people that want this car don't care about Teslas.
9/24/2019 10:10:51 AM
Telsa is not considered as luxury car at all, just a cool new type.
9/24/2019 10:20:41 AM
Correct, there's very little about it that says "luxury" car.
9/24/2019 10:34:20 AM
^^ Tesla is definitely a luxury car considering all perspectives man^ Facetious?
9/24/2019 1:10:44 PM
the greatest luxury in a car you have to drive on the street is the car driving you
9/24/2019 5:07:25 PM
We have an office Tesla guy. (Model S) He takes us to lunch every Monday. It's crazy fast. But it's absolutely NOT a luxury car. Hard, spartan interior.
9/24/2019 7:18:03 PM
^^ so there is no luxury car by that definition?^ interesting. I have never been inside one, but looked inside several times and have seen pics of the interior online. Looks like a luxury car to me with leather, wood, bolstered seats, massive touch screen, etc. What is hard? The seats? And what else should there be so that it is not considered spartan and is considered a luxury car?
9/24/2019 11:16:52 PM
Any car has a luxury version to be put into showroom and shown off to the customers. It's not the same concept. I think Telsa is not getting to the level of BMW or Benz yet, not to say Porsche or Lambo. It's more like enhanced version of Nissan Leaf.
9/25/2019 9:09:40 AM
Yeah sure it is not at Euro-luxury level, and that's because it was not created with traditional luxury in mind. It is a very high tech car company, which explains the "modern minimalist" interior, but the Model S and X are still luxury cars IMO, and are classified as such in the US. How can cars in the $85k-125k range not be luxury cars?
9/25/2019 12:02:46 PM
OK. So it's recognized by market as high-end through money value. But I just went to coffee&car show lately in the neighborhood shopping center. No one single Telsa there. So weird.

9/25/2019 4:53:27 PM
It's marketed and sold as a luxury car because it only cost a bit more to make the car that way, allowing Tesla to charge a bit more money. They still lose massive amounts of money on each car sold. And now Porsche will as well, lol (for every Taycan).
