All I had left to care about in this postseason was seeing the Nats lose one more game.

I guess I can cheer against them for one more series before cheering against the Dodgers.

Yup, they sure did. Fun season, but they played like ass the last two weeks, so not exactly shocked.
Pulling for the Nats, Twins, and anyone besides the Yankees or Dodgers.

Glad it’s football season (9ers still undefeated) and basketball is right around the corner.

I'm coaching my son's baseball team tonight and tomorrow night so unfortunately I will miss most of the Braves first two games. I guess there is no better excuse for missing a game than that though. Go Braves!

Game 7 and no posts??? Our boy Trea became the third Wolfpacker to win the series. Every road team won in a seven game series. That doesn't seem possible. Stats through six games said that was the first time it had ever happened in pro sports.

I think everyone was too distracted by Josh Hamilton's shenanigans to post anything about the WS.

Was incredible. Still shocked how it all went down, but one of the best WS I've ever seen. Fuck Donald Trump.

MLB suspends Stros manager and GM for a year, fined $5M, lost their 1st and 2nd round draft picks for cheating during the 2017 run to the world series.

All in all, a good trade for a WS ring.

Next on the chopping block: the Red Sox.

I think the loss of 1st and 2nd round draft picks for 2 straight years is a pretty significant punishment. Not only do they lose the picks, but their bonus pool is drastically reduced. I don't think suspending a manager for a year is a big deal because I think baseball managers are the least useful coaches in all of sports .

As an O's fan, I would give up picks from the first 2 rounds for the next 10 years for a WS ring. Stros got off easy.

it seems like a lot of effort involved just to let the batter know what pitch was coming.

Yeah because a batter knowing what pitch is coming is a huge deal.

Also, Boston should go ahead and fire Cora now. He's gonna get hit harder than Hinch, because he was the "ringleader" in Houston and was using a replay monitor in Boston after MLB sent out rules clarifications that made it very clear what he was doing was against the rules.

Pretty sad that two consecutive world series were won by blatantly cheating teams and they'll get to stay in the record books as champions, but one of the greatest players of all time can't be inducted into the hall of fame because he's a gambling addict (despite their being no proof he ever bet against his team.)

In conclusion, fuck baseball.

Yeah, but I always thought of sign reading as something similar to angle shooting in poker.

There are tons of new videos popping up on YT showing the opposing pitcher deliberately stepping down from the mound to tell the catcher to change the signs because the pitcher believed that they were on to it. I'd be interested in finding out if those pitchers and teams ever made legit complaints, and if so, why did it take so long for MLB to investigate it?

Somebody standing on second and reading signs and relaying those to a batter is not against the rules and never will be. Using cameras/video monitors to zoom in on the catchers hands is 100% against the rules.

Those videos show that other teams knew their signs were compromised, and they complained to MLB which led to the investigation. Those teams had no proof/knowledge of the sophistication of the cheating. They only knew that the Astros (and also the Red Sox) were somehow stealing signs without runners on base and figured out the trash can was a signal.

I had to look up what angle shooting was, because poker is dumb, but I'd say no. What the Astros and Red Sox did would be more like a poker player hiding cameras that show them what cards their opponents have on a small screen like a phone or watch.

yeah, that sums it up well. I have nothing else to say.

Except of course that this whole scheme only works when you are playing at an elite level. They still have to hit those pitches. Is that irony?

Just reminds of how shitty I was at batting.

This isn’t a good argument. You’re not wrong. It doesn’t make a MiLB player suddenly an MLB all-star by itself. And the Astros still have to play defense and pitch well. But it’s still incredibly blatant cheating that should be punished.

Lol Red Sox pussies out and didn't fire Cora, they agreed to "mutually part ways" AKA they paid him to leave.

Twitter now going nuts over players wearing electronic buzzers under their shirts.

What really bugs me about this whole scheme is that the entire team was complicit. I can understand a player looking the other when it comes to juicing, but this is a scheme that everybody in the dugout was aware of and decided to do nothing about.
