what is this Pats system that you’re referring to?

I am referring to Carolina's most recent offensive line, fyi, not the 2015 group. Hopefully Cam will at least get some better protection than he did the last 2 years here.

^^^You're mad I don't include a player that you also didn't include?

But sure, that would increase the Panthers y/t but obviously still lower than the pats

^^if there is anything I know about Billy B, it's his refusal to change his system to match his players

Palardy out all season with a torn ACL and, on a side note "undrafted rookie linebacker Jordan Mack has opted out of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic"

How does an undrafted rookie opt out?

I don’t blame anybody for opting out. But yeah an undrafted rookie opting out is quite possibly ending his career.

Dumb play there! Got to snap the ball so the catch can't be reviewed and overturned.

It's fine. The Panthers don't need *checks notes* DJ Moore, Curtis Samuel, Shaq Thompson, Derrick Brown and Greg Little among others.

80% of Denver's offensive plays are complete trash, but then they mix in good plays just enough to move the chains

Yeah this ain't nearly as bad as we have been.

I can't speak for every game cause I've been slack watching this year but the Denver game can be placed squarely on the shoulders of Teddy Bridgewater imo. Most of the other games of his I've watched he's been ok (and that's all anyone really thought we were getting with him) but Sunday he was just flat out bad. Missing wide open throws, taking bad sacks, missing throws. Hope that Teddy stays away most of the rest of the year.

The hornets are just managed in a way in that they will never compete for a championship. It's been that way since the original hornets, through the expansion bobcats and now in hornets 2.0. The owners refuse to spend big money to retain star players (and that is now compounded by the historically poor drafting of the modern horcats)

Sometimes they will be very, very bad but most of the time they will be a middle of the road (fighting for an 8 seed) kinda team. The Panthers having a bad season in the first year of a new head coach who basically had no off-season due to a pandemic is not as bad as the continued ineptitude of the hornets franchise.

The Panthers are obviously a more well-run franchise overall, but they're also 4-10 coming off a 5-11 season. They are arguably a worse team right now than the Hornets.

just a few years ago, a team traded up to draft Mitch Trubisky, rather than just drafting Deshaun Watson or Patrick Mahomes. there is a reason the Jags are terrible. just gotta hope the Bengals keep their pick.

In general I hate the idea of trading up in the first round, but let’s say the panthers lose this weekend and end up in #6-7 pick range

Panthers 2021 + 2022 firsts + 2021 third for #2 to draft Fields?

It’s a fucking lot but there will be competing offers. I’m not sold Fields is going to be a star but I certainly believe it’s possible. Is he a better prospect for the NFL than Zach Wilson or Trey Lance? Probably better to sit tight and build another year before introducing a rookie QB to the situation but Fields is an unfinished product with a ton of talent and I could be convinced a calculated risk might be worth it.

[Edited on January 2, 2021 at 4:02 PM. Reason : The 2021 third probably isn’t necessary but I didn’t want to come off as a low ball homer]

To be fair, nobody at the time was really touting Mahomes as the #1 guy in that draft, it was all Watson. But still lol at trubisky. Forever lol at trubisky.

^^for me, this is no where near that 2010 clausen year. While the team sucked, they were fairly competitive in a lot of games. And Teddy was disappointing but was also never gonna be a long term solution, so it’s less disappointing than watching your 2nd round QB pick suck ass. And because it’s Ruhle’s first year there’s at least reason for patience, knowing it’s a rebuild.

But yeah this season sucked

Regarding Justin Fields I am not sold on him as an NFL QB. He waits too long on lots of his passes. I think you stand pat at 8 draft a pass rusher or offensive playmaker. Too many variables and this team has lots of holes to fix.

Biggest need is getting Moton signed to a new deal.

Admittedly I know nothing about Lance...but a QB from NDSU that hasn’t played more than a game since 2019 wouldn’t exactly excite me. However, I’m just a fan and don’t know shit about him. I could easily be convinced otherwise. I saw a mock draft with Kyle Pitts falling to the Panthers and Devonta Smith going at 11...I’d be super excited for either of them.
