Dell Inspiron 7559 laptop, black.

Wifi crapped out on me. it has been getting slower over the past few days, so i ended up having to plug it in via ethernet (so late 90's!)

This computer is my lifeline. is there any way to swap out hardware to fix it easily for a novice?

I've already swapped out a memory stick because it crapped out as well, and black gorilla tape is holding it together at the left pivot point for the screen.

Just get a new one. Between the parts and labor and the piece on mind of having a reliable machine, you'll be money ahead.

An Intel wifi card is less than $15. One screw and two wires.

that's what my father in law recommended. he knows his stuff, and i would probably be shot for saying exactly what he does, but yeah... he said it was worth it to get a dongle or get a new computer. mine is too old and anything on the market would be better anyway.

im assuming you are using an older windows 7 machine.

1 - Buy this or something like it: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Microsoft-Windows-10-Pro-Professional-32-64bit-Genuine-License-Key-Instant/313092944368?hash=item48e5cb31f0:g:7h8AAOSwSU5eykVw
2 - Use 8GB+ flash drive and the Windows 10 downloadable iso to create an W10 install stick
3 - Install W10 on your old ass laptop
4 - Profit

I have done this with 10 year old laptops and W10 runs on them beautifully.

[Edited on May 25, 2020 at 11:09 PM. Reason : and then buy a dongle if you even need one]

Just buy a new(er)(<$600) laptop and be set for next decade. I’d suggest the lenovo flex line.
