Last year's thread - https://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=651166New Year, New You!! Almost completely cut out candy last year. This year's goal - limiting desserts to weekends only. Let's do this, TWW (at least until the website goes away again...).

I'm with you! Goal is to start tracking my foods again. Telling myself that I can eyeball everything accurately is obviously not working.
1/2/2021 10:16:01 AM
searching substitutes for foods now. switching from regular milk to fairlife, and from chicken meatballs to gardein plant-based meatless meatballs. Gardein also has a meatless chicken tenders and a few other products i will try.
1/3/2021 12:20:48 AM
Cutting way down on processed foods and sugar, and sticking to 5-times-a-week workout. Also trying to get in daily stretching.

I'm planning on working more beef into my diet and trying to increase my sodium intake
1/8/2021 9:42:35 AM
Have you considered bacon for the latter?Or pastrami is you want to kill two birds?
1/8/2021 10:21:43 AM
Good idea!(Haha actually have some in the oven RN)

I had a bad ankle/foot break last year and couldn’t walk for 6 weeks. Gained a lot of weight between that and the holidays. I had bought a bike right before that happened but man has it helped with recovery and getting into shape. I’ve put 600+ miles on it outdoors and am just really into it. Went in for a TacX Neo2 smart trainer and a nice setup for Zwift. It’s been awesome doing their training programs, etc. through the winter. I highly recommend it. I’ve been counting calories, eating clean (steam fresh veggies ftw) and not drinking and have been consistently losing weight and feeling better than I have in years
1/13/2021 7:01:28 PM
Last time I was in lockdown (Feb-Jul 2020), I had gained a few pounds (5-7 lbs) within the first few weeks and that became my new normal weight. Hated it because most of it ended up around my midsection.Lost all the extra weight once lockdown ended in July.Again in lockdown now since Dec 1 and this time around I am at my normal half the days of the week and 1-2 lbs below normal the other half. Eating a WFPB diet 95% of the time.My goal is simply not to gain any weight (unless muscle) and I am doing OK with that. Next goal will be to gain some muscle after a few weeks. Too many things happening now for me to work towards that goal.
1/14/2021 7:18:21 AM
Or The first is a much better meatless meatball in my opinion
1/14/2021 8:15:57 PM
Two weeks down, no dessert during the week so far. Back to freezing grapes as an after dinner dessert substitute. But, also discovered Mike’s Hot Honey recently so that’s not helping.
1/15/2021 7:42:59 PM
I’ve eaten more fruit this month than in the last 5 years combined. I’m not big on frozen grapes, though. Down 15 pounds since Christmas. I’m sure a lot was water/bloat. Going strong on no drinking, sub-1600 calories, and lots of Zwift. Tracking everything in Renpho. Clothes fit so much better now - I’ve lost 4” on my waist and 3/4” on my neck. Hoping to continue through February. I have a surgery at the end of the month and should be at my goal weight and under 13% bf by then.
1/24/2021 10:19:22 PM
For 2021 I’m looking to hit a deadlift over 500, bench of 315, and squat 405 again. I’m definitely on track for the deadlift, been easily hitting singles above 450 before my working sets, as long as I don’t get hurt that one is going to be hit before summer. Bench is going to be tough, I’d estimate my max is in the 290 range but I’ve been progressing better the last 15 weeks or so than ever before so I think it could happen this year. Squatting is going to be the hardest because I’ve been rehabbing a nasty case of gluteal tendinopathy. It’s on the mend but my squat just sucks right not because I haven’t been able to train it hard in years. Probably in the 335-350 range right now but slow and steady is my approach there.
1/26/2021 10:49:07 AM
^^ that's awesome, keep it up! good luck with the surgery^ keep pushingI'm down 10lbs primarily by tracking all the food I eat and meeting calorie goals. Still a long way to go to get back to where I was 3 years ago
1/26/2021 10:37:19 PM
So Apple Watch now allows you to adjust the exercise and stand goals in addition to the move goal. I cannot stress how much I hated the stand goal, so I'm happy as hell to have that down to the minimum (6)^^damn, those are some big boy numbers. 295 was my lifetime pr on bench but it took a toll on my shoulder. I'd be lucky to do 200 once now^thanks!
1/31/2021 8:27:21 PM
Winter is over, temperature is rising. Time to get back in shape.
2/24/2021 1:37:36 PM
I need to improve my physical fitness to address my high blood pressure.I think I'm gonna go for a long walk because it is nice outside.
2/24/2021 2:02:39 PM
Getting old + new job stress + no time for hour long workouts = hard to lose weight. Done pretty good so far this year with limiting desserts during the week, but the inactivity from sitting in front of a computer all day seems to be catching up to me. Still doing limited intermittent fasting 3-4 days a week. too. Started getting up and taking a 30 min brisk walk in the mornings - about a 1.5 mile loop, to at least ensure I get some level of activity in for the day. Like a few others in these threads, I guess I'm going to have to get serious with food tracking to start making progress.
3/7/2021 7:43:19 AM
If it's not too expensive, a treadmill desk can help you still get some activity in while working at a computer. I usually work on one a couple hours a morning, and it seems to make a difference.
3/8/2021 7:04:18 AM
For some reason I could never focus as well standing up while trying to work/think as sitting down, so I'm sure I'd have the same problem with a treadmill desk. I just have to reduce the caloric intake and stop making excuses.
3/8/2021 10:15:25 AM
It definitely took me a little getting used to before I could focus while using a treadmill desk. If I put the speed super low (like 0.5mph) it's easier.
3/9/2021 5:12:48 PM
Anyone have a favorite green powder? I just got one from walmart but only 24 servings so I am open to other options. I got purely inspired organic greens with superfood blend
4/11/2021 5:37:46 PM
Lost 4 lbs since spring starts already. Good progress. [Edited on April 12, 2021 at 9:33 AM. Reason : ;]

Hit a 505 deadlift and 300 bench. Squat is still lagging due to tendinopathy issues but I’m happy with the other two milestones. Now time to drop a few lbs for the summer.
4/16/2021 4:20:01 PM
^ That's amazing, congrats.
4/16/2021 7:14:03 PM
Thanks, it’s amazing what getting on a solid program and consistent effort will do. I guess I need to set a goal for six plates now.
4/17/2021 1:23:02 PM
Some awesome numbers, congrats! I’ve always wanted to hit 1,000 pounds between the three but my squat was always so weak. I’ve kept up cycling and lost 26 pounds in January and February so 206 to 180 right before the surgery, which went well. My blood pressure is perfect now, resting heart rate in the high 40s/low 50s. Best cardio shape I’ve ever been in for sure. I’ve been maintaining but may cut down a bit more as summer approaches. Did a metric century (62mi/100km) last weekend and was pretty proud of that. Zwift was huge for helping me make gains over winter. I can absolutely crush hills that I’d have to get off and walk up when I first started. Loving this great weather.[Edited on April 19, 2021 at 12:12 AM. Reason : .]

Halfway thru the year! How's everyone doing with their goals so far? Early morning workouts are getting easier for me - but still need to drop a few pounds. Only averaging about 6.5hrs of sleep nightly, so that probably isn't ideal, but tradeoffs. I also recently discovered sparkling mineral water so that's helping satisfy the afternoon snack cravings instead.

Any tips to curb excessive flatulence? Gas-x doesn’t seem to help
8/23/2021 1:37:37 PM
^ what's your diet?also, be careful not to swallow air when chewing/swallowing food or drinking fluids. and of course, don't breathe through your mouth.
8/23/2021 5:39:12 PM
Typically a green smoothie, coffee, green tea, a peach, a serving of huel, a quest protein cookie, a quest bag of protein chips, a bowl of either chili or jambalaya or beef stew, and 2 bottles of wine
8/24/2021 8:36:58 AM

8/24/2021 11:42:37 AM
So breathing through your mouth makes you fart more?
8/24/2021 3:10:06 PM
no not breathing but swallowing air into your GI tract.the breathing bit was by mistake.
8/25/2021 1:14:43 PM
I have been swallowing air for 2 days and have barely farted. If anything I've farted less than normal.
8/25/2021 5:03:45 PM
I eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast.
8/26/2021 10:03:49 PM
^^ well then you must have been burping it out, or flatulating in your sleep. matter can't be destroyed. if you swallow air, it has to come out somehow.
