Aside from "removal of all Trump policies."
I don't know how feasible this would be with the way corporate America works, but I would really like to see a true European style maternity/paternity leave. It's an absolute shame that we don't have something like this already. I don't know how we would be able to protect job positions for years, but parents should be able to spend the youngest, most influential part of a child's life with them. My wife took her 3 months that's protected by FMLA, but a large majority of that was funded by short-term disability, and in most situations, you have to plan to get pregnant before you purchase short-term disability because most insurance companies consider pregnancy to be a pre-existing condition. I don't know what the best term-length would be, but at least the first year should be spent with the kid/s.
But at the same time, how can you tell your company that you're going to peace-out for a year and expect to be able to come back like nothing happened?
I'll come back with more, but that's a big one for me. 1/24/2021 11:32:25 AM |

It's not that difficult... in Europe. Most companies have a constant flux of personnel any way, even in European countries where employees are given signed contracts of employment for a minimum of year. So, you tell your company that you are expecting, and then they have a good head start on the selection and training of a back up person in the interim. You go on your leave when the new employee is already trained, and since you have a signed contract of employment with them, you are guaranteed the equivalent pay grade and position level on your return. So, if you were a manager when you left, then you are a manager when you get back. However, there is no guarantee that you will get your same job back.
It is another very functioning European policy that is unfortunately impossible to transplant and implement in the States because the fundamental principles of employment and working here are very different from over there. Same thing with "free college education." Again, it works over there due to the fact that they significantly fewer academic institutions than we do, so the process as a whole is sustainable for them. But if that were copied and implemented in the States, you would see the number of available slots for students, and surely the institutions themselves, decrease.

carbon credits, carbon taxes, tax carbon used for international shipping. Carve outs for industries that have few alternatives (like cement).
More support for municipal fiber.
Infrastructure, the roads around Raleigh seem really, really bad, reminds me of visiting a developing nation in a lot of places.

rejoin Paris, renewed Iran deal, keep a foot on DPRK's neck, rejoin TPP to exert influence in the Pacific and make a turn back towards free trade. Bring back stability and relative professionalism to our government.
Largely maintain status quo otherwise. I feel like the more they do, the more they'll fuck up. I voted for him to just bail the water out of the boat that flooded in over the last few years, and then hopefully take a nap.

^^ I mean the longer-term status quo.
Undo a lot of the big fuck-ups of the last 4 years, then please just sit on your hands, President Biden.
and in what universe is Trump status-quo?

I'm not saying Trump was the status quo. I'm asking if you think Trump's presidency was a result of the status quo as it existed up to 2016. Do you believe the pre-Trump status quo circa 2016 provided the conditions for Trump to win an election? 2/6/2021 12:10:51 AM |

Oh, gotcha. Sure.
I just know that Biden is mostly a choice between status quo and making things worse, in my view. He’s exceedingly unlikely to do anything transformative for the better.
Good things aren’t in the cards. I voted for him to fuck things up worse as little as possible.

If there's any student loan forgiveness passed, that it could also be applied to student loans refinanced with private providers like navient. 2/6/2021 12:46:37 AM |

Solve the Palestinian problem by putting pressure on Netanyahu and the Zionist state, but yeah, that would be political suicide.
Just don't commit any genocides (Bush) or create conditions for genocide (Obama). 2/6/2021 4:22:10 PM |

It's not exclusive to Biden - it was likely either way as a result of China being expected to surpass the US in economic power by 2028. I'm expecting proxy war in Africa. 2/6/2021 6:38:31 PM |
