I follow him on FB, and I like the activism he does for victims of police brutality, wrongfully convicted blacks, fighting against voter suppression laws, black candidates in local elections, bringing forward stories of black victims of racism, systemic or otherwise, and heck, even marijuana decriminalization. He raises money for all those and many other causes, including paying for funerals of police brutality and hate crimes, and defense funds of wrongfully charged black people.
I have noticed some people in the comments posting negative comments and calling him a con without explaining themselves, and I have it on the back burner to look up soon why some people dislike him and think he is a con.
"The internet" is not one person; millions of people obviously love and support him.
I have not read the article from the OP yet (seriously, 'hiphopwired', after you hound me for my sources?), but will do so tomorrow. And even if his piece on Samaria Rice, which I have also not read, is "ridiculous", that doesn't take away from his actual work on the ground, both seen and unseen, that he does to help those who need it.
In the meantime, if anybody wants to briefly say or post a link as to why he is a "grifter", please do so. Who has he grifted?
He has done amazing work raising money for all the right causes. Here are some examples from the past few weeks, and I like the last one best... I mean, his team actually got Ahmaud Arberry's murderers arrested, which took a lot of money and effort that it should not have. I fail to see how he is a bad person.

P.S. As for his racial makeup, he is clearly not 100% Caucasian, that much anybody can see. Of course, if he is knowingly lying about his race, he should be taken to task, but he says he has been told all his life that his biological father is a "light-skinned black man".
