2021 thread - https://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=651888
Maintained last year - no major gains or losses. Plan to supplement the 3-4x weekly morning bootcamps with more weight training this year. Also plan to continue to watch the sugar intake and to cut out beer. I barely drink as it is, but the beer is just unnecessary calories.
What goals does everyone else have this year? Let's do this, TWW! 1/1/2022 10:57:37 AM |

Hopefully everyone is too busy working out this year to reply to the post!
I know there are older posts on chiropractic, but since this is the wellness thread just going to post here. Injured my back last month not lifting properly on a really cold morning - low back froze up on me for the first time. Form is really important now that we're old. Didn't think it was serious enough for PT or Ortho, so thought I'd try a chiro for the first time bc I knew they would do an x-ray at least. Ended up getting sick before my first appt so I had to reschedule for about 2 weeks later - back was 99% recovered by my first appt thanks to just resting over the holiday and using a heating pad. Today was my third "adjustment" and the appt maybe lasted 2 minutes tops, barely even had any "pops" today. My scans showed slight spine alignment issues - mainly some straightening in my cervical and left pelvis slightly lower than right, but I don't see the point in going anymore if what I had was primarily a muscular issue. It definitely reminded me I have to re-focus on my posture though since I sit at a computer all day. The chiro I went to seemed like a nice enough group, and didn't try to push any supplements or any other alternative stuff, but I can't justify continuing. 1/10/2022 11:14:40 AM |

McDonald's really should consider charging more than $1.08 for ice cream cones so I'm not so tempted to get one after lunch every day. Must regain food discipline lost after the holidays... 1/12/2022 2:24:53 PM |

For any guys in the Raleigh area (I still assume most people on here live around Raleigh for some reason), there is a men's workout group you can check out if you still need some motivation to get started on the workout plan for 2022. It does require getting up early so probably not for everyone - I started working out with my local F3 group last year after waking up early to workout and getting bored working out alone at 5 in the morning.

Nope, just a group of guys who get up early to workout. Just sharing for anyone who needs some motivation to get on track for fitness in 2022 - not everyone can do it alone. 1/30/2022 8:31:18 AM |

Picked me up an Ergatta rower. I hope it's going to be a good investment. I was told I shouldn't run anymore because I'm just losing too much cartilage in the knees. 11/13/2022 6:00:37 PM |

Nice. Is Ergatta the Peloton of rowing?
I used to have a Concept II that I really enjoyed. 11/14/2022 9:19:17 PM |

Can't outrun your fork.
I lost about 12-13 lbs this year. I wasn't really doing anything different, and the weight just started falling off--the opposite of the last few years, where I had gained 10 lbs seemingly overnight for no apparent reason and nothing I did seemed to get rid of it. I dropped the first 10 lbs nearly literally effortlessly (at least, without additional effort beyond my normal lifestyle of exercise, etc).
It finally clicked with me what the reason was. When I got married almost 3 years ago, things got shitty and stressful within the first week, and it was pretty much a continuous exercise in frustration and stress, although I didn't really have any concept of it until she finally moved out around last Christmas/New Year. The first few months of that was stressful, too, which is another story for another day, but then I was finally able to relax some, and that's when the weight just plummeted.
Then I learned about Zone 2 training and started incorporating more running. That's probably accounted for the last 2-3 lbs. I'm back to within a couple of lbs of my college weight now.
(in retrospect, it should have been obvious what caused the weight gain, but I also went from part-time to full-time at work around that time, and had a couple of kidney stones around that time, too.)11/14/2022 11:06:10 PM |

^^Well, Peloton is now the Peloton of rowing (they recently released a rower), and Peloton's rower is very expensive. The Ergatta is nice because it's made by WaterRower and it actually looks nice. What makes the Ergatta different though is they don't use instructor led classes. They've essentially gamified rowing, and they have a pretty neat learning function for your progress. 11/15/2022 10:06:09 PM |
