Mimi Collins, a 6'3 F transfer formerly of Maryland has committed. Has 2 years of eligibility.

Should be interesting to see who else comes in through the portal.

Yeah i read some article that said they really had no shot at making the team based on the amount of players they already had under contract, including a whole bunch with guaranteed contracts. Not really a surprise.

https://247sports.com/college/north-carolina-state/Article/Saniya-Rivers-NC-State-basketball-commits-womens-South-Carolina-Wolfpack-187617056/

Quote :
"NC State has landed its third former five-star recruit in the transfer portal this offseason, with the latest returning home to North Carolina. Wilmington native and former South Carolina guard Saniya Rivers has committed to the Wolfpack shortly after an official visit to NC State this past weekend.

Rivers joins a transfer class that already includes two other former McDonald's All-Americans in Mimi Collins and River Baldwin. But unlike the two bigs coming in, Rivers has three years of eligibility remaining after only playing her freshman campaign with the Gamecocks last season.

Oh no. She had to issue a statement apologizing. That’s soooo weak. Just own it. “Yeah I don’t like them, their fans are mean to me and my team, and it’s a rivalry”. Don’t walk it back.

Yup she didn't do anything wrong, but she also has a habit of saying extremely stupid things. And she did it with this, especially with the Duke being more relevant part. They aren't and haven't been relevant in ACC basketball in awhile.

Not gonna comment on the classless thing, because every fanbase has shitty fans that say shitty things. She should know that.

I guess she could argue that she meant Duke is a more national/international brand. Their MBB success and university prestige carries enough weight that everybody know who Duke is, even as it applies to other sports. Even if on the court they aren’t more relevant. Which is kinda a lame argument but I think she was talking to a dude in the UK, so I guess I could see that connection being made. Either way, what’s clear is that she not very adept at thinking ahead and choosing her words carefully.

https://247sports.com/college/north-carolina-state/Article/Laci-Steele-NC-State-basketball-womens-commit-recruiting-2023-194346496/

Quote :
"NC State women's basketball has landed a commitment another Top-75 player in the 2023 class with Laci Steele making it official on Wednesday evening. After taking an official visit to the Wolfpack earlier this month, the four-star guard has now shut down her recruitment and will run with the Wolfpack next year.

The 5-foot-11 guard from Edmond (OK) North had 20-plus offers from all over the country and recently narrowed down her list to five schools. Along with the Pack, Steele's finalists were Northwestern, Texas A&M, Georgia Tech and USC. She broke down what made the Wolfpack special following her recent official to Raleigh.

...
...
...

Steele joins an already talented group of Wolfpack commits in the 2023 class. With Steele, the No. 56 overall player in the class, now committed, State has three Top-60 players, according to ESPN, with 5-foot-10 guard Zoe Brooks (No. 33) and 6-foot-3 post Mallory Collier (No. 44) already in the fold."

Recruiting (PI!!11):

Quote :
"
RALEIGH – NC State women’s basketball signed its highest-ranked class of future Wolfpackers on Wednesday as four high school student-athletes inked National Letters of Intent to join the squad beginning with the 2023-24 season.

NC State received official commitments from ESPN No. 9 Zoe Brooks, ESPN No. 55 Mallory Collier, ESPN No. 56 Laci Steele and ESPN No. 71 Maddie Cox. The four players make up a Wolfpack 2023 class that has been ranked as high as fourth nationally by ESPN, and the four top-100 signees mark the best-ranked 2023 class in the Atlantic Coast Conference and the best in program history.

Pack ladies looked good yesterday against MSM. Some sloppy passing and free throw shooting that we'll polish up as the season progresses and we get more cohesive, but overall, great hustle and teamwork.
