This was the one where the guy was caught putting lead weights and fish fillets in his catches, right?

I don't keep up with competitive fishing in the slightest, but I was under the impression pretty much every tourney had a guy on each boat to weigh and measure each catch as they're caught so the whole standings and everything were always updated live?

This was the case during a previous tournament, but not all of them. One article said they must have been quite deceptive to get past that person. They also passed lie detector tests at one point.

It's a big deal because they have allegedly cheated in the past to win tens of thousands of dollars in prizes. But how can it be proven?

Polygraph tests are utterly pointless and don't work. 'Proper' use of them is basically asking the same 15 questions over and over and over again.

I'm aware. They can be used to psychologically intimidate people though. A good interrogator can use one to get a confession out of someone that doesn't know they are bogus technology. The fact they were given one makes me wonder how high suspicions were going into the tournament.

I am assuming they have been permabanned from this tournament and would assume their tournament fishing careers are over because this went viral and there names are out there now.

They won over $300k in 2021 alone:

I read that they had a lifetime earnings of close to 2 million from winning. That doesn't include any of their sponsorships either.
