Rhule to Nebraska.Oregon OC Dillingham to Arizona StateAuburn open (Freeze?).Stanford open. Colorado open. GT open. Wisconsin open (Jim Leonhard?)I think that’s all the P5 openings for now.
11/27/2022 9:26:07 AM
Wisconsin targeting Fickell from Cincy
11/27/2022 11:22:00 AM
Wow. That would be huge and a pretty great hire. (With the caveat that it’s impossible to predict how hires will actually perform).
11/27/2022 12:27:21 PM
Especially huge since Ohio State fans apparently hate their coach now
11/27/2022 1:14:14 PM
GT may take interim tag off their coach, they played well for him and they aren't exactly rolling in the cash.Wisconsin has hired Luke Fickell, thats a good hire. Don't think Dave will be leaving for any of the other openings.
11/28/2022 7:42:52 AM
It's weird that you say that about GT now since it came out last night that they're hiring Tulane coach Willie Fritz
11/28/2022 7:49:59 AM
According to Pete Thamel that deal isn't done and they are still interviewing other candidates
11/28/2022 8:34:49 AM
Freeze to Auburn sounds like a done deal lol. I’m assuming the reason the Fritz to GT thing isn’t finalized yet is because Tulane’s season is still ongoing with the conference title game this week
11/28/2022 5:32:29 PM
Also each Auburns last 3 hires (including Freeze) have also served as HC at Ark State.
11/28/2022 6:28:08 PM
^^Plausible but the rumor is GT made some demands about staffing and that caused Fritz to have second thoughts.
11/29/2022 8:28:59 AM
Boy is my face red about this gt hire.I need to vet my sources (i.e. the internet) more carefully
11/29/2022 3:02:42 PM
their main selling point of "we just beat UNC in football" apparently wasn't the homerun sales pitch they thought
11/29/2022 3:24:54 PM
So with Key getting the permanent HC job at GT we now have two Brents coaching at the Techs in the ACC
11/29/2022 3:34:52 PM
11/29/2022 3:41:44 PM
Oh I forgot to say I live in the ATL Metro area so I heard everything. Signing day is close and they didn't want to wait, and Fritz would be the best they could do outside of taking interim tag off Key.
11/29/2022 4:50:15 PM
I don't think Key is very good
11/29/2022 5:11:54 PM
11/30/2022 9:39:44 AM
This Batts fellow sounds like the GT Version of Lee Fowler.
11/30/2022 10:03:30 AM
Always good when boosters push around decision makers, never ends poorly
11/30/2022 11:16:20 AM
Satterfield to Cincy
12/5/2022 8:09:52 AM
I hope he coaches both teams in their bowl game
12/5/2022 8:52:27 AM
12/5/2022 9:13:40 AM
Not carousel exactly but kansas just gave their coach a $7m per year contract for going 15-11 last 2 years.
2/28/2024 12:23:53 PM
Probably because they couldn't lure Dave Doeren away

This is the job Ben Johnson has been waiting for.
11/27/2024 9:51:03 AM
11/27/2024 10:16:08 AM
Was there a better way to handle it? Mack refuses to step down, so you have to fire him. You could wait to announce it but if he beats State are you going to be second guessing the decision if it’s yet to be announced? They can rally the troops for one last hoorah for Mack. Idk…I don’t think it was handled that poorly. They’re the first P4 job open. Being first probably doesn’t matter much, but could be a slower carousel this year.
11/27/2024 10:20:35 AM
You know who doesn't have a job right now? Nick Saban and Bill Belichick.
11/27/2024 10:23:04 AM
They’re the first P4 job open (that's also secretly a big 2 in waiting)admittedly I've read too many IC posts in the last 24 hrs
11/27/2024 10:47:17 AM
It’s definitely a good job and I assume they can open the pocketbook and pay good money. But it’s been a good job for a really long time and they continue to not turn the corner as a program. Coach from Tulane is the big G5 name I guess? Not really sure who the other big names out there are…maybe some coordinators.
11/27/2024 11:06:12 AM
The biggest thing in attaching coaches now is NIL money. I'm not sure UNC is willing to spend the amount needed on football to land a big time coach when they could instead spend that money on basketball
11/27/2024 11:35:21 AM
Uhhhhhttps://247sports.com/college/north-carolina-state/article/bill-belichick-interviewed-with-north-carolina-for-head-coaching-position-inside-carolina-reports-241358315/
12/5/2024 3:49:55 PM
Lol he's just dusting up his interviewing skills waiting for Gibson to leave.Personally i can't wait for them to hire Urban Meyer]
12/5/2024 4:05:24 PM
I heard Bill Cowher was spotted traveling west on i40 from Raleigh...
12/5/2024 5:00:30 PM
Let's replace 73yo Mack Brown with 72yo Bill Belichick
12/5/2024 6:06:21 PM
lol at BelichickI guess it could be one of two things. 1) both sides have an interest in leaking this even if neither side is genuinely interested. It shows how eager Belichick is to coach again and keeps his name in the carousel. And for UNC, hey look at how great our job is…the greatest nfl coach of all time wants to coach here! Or 2) UNC is just fucking stupid
12/5/2024 6:14:42 PM
Oh it's definitely the first one. Belichick wants an NFL job. And it's prob a little early to be talking to NFL teams, well at the least the completely not terrible ones.
12/5/2024 6:28:43 PM
Yeah def 1. But still kinda number 2 since UNC is even pretending to entertain it. Belichick vs Doeren would be kinda funny though.
12/5/2024 7:10:27 PM
Starting to sound more and more like the Belichick stuff is real. God UNC is dumb. Bubba Cunningham seems to have a good reputation but if he lets the boosters go over/around him to make this hire after the Mack hire then he’s fucking idiot and deserves ridicule
12/9/2024 6:24:14 PM
I saw that they have also i interviewed Steve Wilks. I think the fact that they haven't hired anyone yet is hilarious. Still feels to me like Belichick is just stringing then along and asking for a lot just to get his name in the game. NFL teams can't really conduct full-on searches until the regular season ends due to rules about interviewing currently employed coaches – they could interview Belichick now, but they'd still have to interview other candidates so it's a month before Belichick could realistically get an NFL job.Now if they end up meeting his demands, well, it will be fun to watch.
12/9/2024 7:10:03 PM
I’m assuming at this point Sumrall has said no or UNC has been dumb enough to slow play him in favor of Belichick.
12/9/2024 8:49:46 PM
The only thing that could make the Belichick thing a little less of a bad idea than say, hiring an NFL coach 5 years ago, is he does have experience as an NFL GM and with NIL, you kind of have to have a salary cap and decide which players you want to keep and let go. But he's also 72 years old and has no college experience.
12/9/2024 9:41:29 PM
^^He already did turn them down, probably holding out for an SEC jobhttps://x.com/PeteThamel/status/1866170212652892269[Edited on December 9, 2024 at 10:15 PM. Reason : .]
12/9/2024 10:14:38 PM
He's a Kentucky alum and there's a very real chance Kentucky parts ways with Stoops next year if they don't have a massive improvement. LSU could also pony up the cash to dump Brian Kelly if they aren't in the CFP next year. So yeah he's probably holding out for something like that.
12/9/2024 10:28:06 PM
Inside Carolina should be a fun read when they inevitably can’t seal the deal with Billy Boi…they are all-in on him
12/10/2024 8:32:05 AM
For Belichick to impose all these sweeping changes to the program and athletic department to make the workings of the football operation a facsimile of an NFL team at the scale necessary for his vision to come to life…that would take years to fully install, right? How long would he even be there? 3 years? You’d basically be making all these changes for administrative support and financial backing for the next guy, would you implement them. And then the rumored condition for his son to be named coach after him has to be bullshit, at least I hope.
12/10/2024 1:46:10 PM
Asking for all this major institutional change and wouldn’t he just leave as soon as an NFL job wanted him? Maybe no nfl team wants him in the next year or two. But it just feels like this is so dumb if UNC does it. They can make major investments and changes to how they prioritize football without hiring a 70+ year old NFL coach who will surely want to return to the NFL as soon as that opportunity presents itself.
12/10/2024 2:26:36 PM
He will leave for the NFL and UNC will be contractually obligated to hire his son to replace him. I love it.
12/10/2024 2:42:24 PM
It’s monumentally stupid. You don’t need Belichick in charge to decide to massively overhaul your approach to football. Especially when/if you’re contractually tying yourself to his son who has a very unproven track record and no HC experience.
