It sounds like charges are definitely in order, but could someone explain to me why prosecutors are going for first degree murder?

This seems to me like second degree or voluntary manslaughter charges would be in order.

Just a wild guess, but I'm gonna say that they're going to argue that someone in their profession should know that strapping someone tightly to a gurney face down could kill them and as such they knowingly and intentionally caused his death.

^Thanks. I thought first degree had to be premeditated though.

Well i think strapping a guy face down on a stretcher requires some forethought. Premeditation doesn't necessarily mean intricate planning days in advance.

"Finley is heard yelling at Moore to get up and walk out to the ambulance. 'You’re gonna have to walk cause we ain’t carrying you!' she says. 'I am seriously not in the mood for this dumb shit.'"

what the hell

Like i think it rises to the level of first degree murder because the paramedics thought about strapping him face down, then while he was face down and struggling to breathe chose not to release him from the restraints. All of that combined with the poor actions/verbal response prior to the act is enough in my opinion to say their actions were deliberate rather than solely based on impulse. If anything, simply not loosening the restraints and letting him asphyxiate on the way to the hospital is enough to raise this charge to first degree murder because the time in the ambulance is enough time to contemplate their actions and choose to not be murderers. It's not like they strapped the victim in and he immediately died, they had time to think about it.

I'm actually amazed the cops that showed up first didn't shoot him. Congratulations cops, you didn't do it this time.

did the actual issues they were called for have anything to directly do with the death?
