they also are able to make deals which give them a percentage of box office sales, which a tiny, tiny amount of actors are able to do
not sure why their names were brought up, as they have both shown solidarity with the union 7/27/2023 4:29:11 PM

Quote : | "So Sheridan booted Winter as showrunner on Tulsa King and also started writing Lioness episodes himself — just as he writes all the episodes in the Yellowstone franchise (after early attempts at collaborating with others on that show, too). “If you don’t grow up in this [ranching] world, and if you’re not a history fanatic, how do you write 1883?” he asks. “How does a room do that? It doesn’t.”
Paramount Media Networks president and CEO chief Chris McCarthy says Sheridan is always welcome to be more hands-on. “You can’t teach or hope that someone cares more than Taylor,” he says. “So anytime that he wants to step in, it’s only to make it better and to push our partners to achieve greatness" |

Quote : | "There are a couple of other showrunners (like White Lotus creator Mike White) who likewise prefer to write entire seasons solo, though it’s a stance that has been under scrutiny as it bumps up against the WGA’s efforts to convince studios to hire a minimum number of writers for each scripted show.
“The freedom of the artist to create must be unfettered,” Sheridan counters. “If they tell me, ‘You’re going to have to write a check for $540,000 to four people to sit in a room that you never have to meet,’ then that’s between the studio and the guild. But if I have to check in creatively with others for a story I’ve wholly built in my brain, that would probably be the end of me telling TV stories.”" |

It sounds pretty asinine to have to hire a team of writers when you have this fully developed idea in your head and could write an entire show by yourself. 9/14/2023 7:51:59 AM

Ugh, I have Paramount+ which gives me 1883 and 1923, but not Yellowstone
Wonder if it will make it's way to Hulu via CBS? 9/17/2023 9:16:07 PM

So the new Scorsese flick is coming out, Ashoka is about to finish up, and a few other shows and movies I know of are on the horizon, but I wonder how much deeper the bench is before we start running out of new material to consume from Hollywood? 9/19/2023 12:55:21 PM

I watch a lot of movies, and I'm constantly amazed about how many good old(er) movies are out there that I've never seen, and often never even heard of. I'm constantly finding new stuff on TCM and streaming services. Of course, it also mean slogging through some not-so-great movies to find the good ones. We've recently watched a bunch of old Gene Hackman movies, a couple were really good.
