My family is moving to Madagascar this summer and we need to upgrade our TV. Does anyone know of any brands/models that are dual voltage? I’m trying to avoid the wear and tear on the TV that would happen with a voltage converter.

Madagascar is 220v/50hz. I figured this would be pretty easy but most of what I’ve seen online requires you to take off the back panel to see if a TV is truly dual voltage, trying to avoid that.

In the same vein, what do you guys recommend for a UPS that can handle 220v input? Output doesn’t really matter since everything hooked up will dual voltage.

Can't you just use a TV sold in that locality?

That’s certainly an option, but I’d prefer to have a TV I can take with me when we move again in a few years. Plus, electronics of similar quality to what we enjoy here are stupidly expensive in Madagascar.

Interesting. I might have assumed the opposite. But how expensive is it going to be to ship large-format electronics back and forth to Madagascar?

Sorry I have no real suggestions about your original query.

It would be prohibitively expensive to ship large format electronics, or really anything, to/from Africa. Luckily work covers the cost of shipping ~8k pounds plus a car.
