Another year, an even better reason to celebrate. The TREBLE!!! Too bad that Haaland dude was a total flop. We could have won all five possible trophies with a better striker. To be honest, I hope he wins the Ballon d'Or, but Messi's World Cup heroics might give him the edge, despite PSG's dismal CL campaign.

The Newcastle project will be interesting to follow in the upcoming season, as their investments are paying off, unlike Chelsea's. Now that they've qualified for the Champions League, they have the potential to land some major star power in the summer.

Arsenal, United, and Liverpool will likely strengthen and one of them might overtake City in the league by narrow margins due to the Citizens' busier than normal schedule, which includes the Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

I think Arsenal may have the depth to win the PL this year as much as it pains me to say that. I think City will contend but the CWC along with the Festive Fixture schedule may see them drop points when thats when they normally start to hit their stride.

Chelsea are a couple of seasons away, they will be improved this season and they are still quite young. So writing off some of their signings is just a fools errand. They have cleared out a lot of players so the bloated squad size won't be an issue. Still have needs that may not be fixed in this window but they are trending in right direction. The talent is there and with a light fixture schedule depth they may do better than the pundits expect, of course this all dependent on injuries in positions without depth. Fofana's ACL rupture is not ideal, will probably force them to get another CB on market, which may mean not signing another striker. They need to get Caicedo over the line, because him and Enzo will be a good midfield partnership.

Apparently Henderson is on his way to SA, so new Liverpool MF will need to gel quickly.

^City is heavy betting favorites until they show a reason not to be, imo.

^I agree its hard to bet against them especially if Haaland is on same form as last season.

Out of the traditional powers Arsenal is the team I think that can unseat them. Everyone else has issues, not saying ManU, Liverpool, Spurs, Newcastle or a sleeper team couldn't catch fire and have a great campaign

Arsenal is going to be tough, even for City. If they stay healthy, watch out.

Quote :
"Across the entirety of the 38-game season, Arsenal were closer to the teams in fourth or fifth than the one in first. Their goal differential (+45) was nearer to Newcastle United's (+35) than it was to City's (+61). Their expected-goal (xG) differential (+29.9) was worse than Newcastle's (+32.4), and closer to both Liverpool's (+21.7) and Brighton & Hove Albion's (+23.1) than it was to City's (+46.6)."

Quote :
"With the Hammers, Rice had a ton of space on the ball and didn't have to cover as much space off of it thanks to the team's fast-paced style of play. At Arsenal, it's going to be the exact opposite: little space when he has the ball, lots of space to defend when he doesn't."

Arsenal generally finds a way to NC STATE shit themselves at some point or another during the season but I think the roster they've got this year is going to be rough to play against.

Its baffling to me that Mount and Havertz got mega deals.

I can already see in my mind the nasty looks bruno is gonna be shooting the fitness merchant when he slides a nice pass through and mount gives it away with a heavy touch. Havertz was basically a Bamford level striker last season. Rice is pretty nice, but 105M? That's pure English tax.

The Rice deal is interesting because Brighton are wanting the same for Caceido who is a little more raw but has potential to probably be better than Rice with right coach, but he is not there yet.

But yes Chelsea getting 120 Million for Mount and Havertz is great business for Chelsea because neither are worth the fees we got.

So we lost the Community Sheild match. Guess that means we have a better chance of winning the league.

This season is going to be another rough one for Liverpool. I don't expect them to finish top 4 unless we have some massive improvements from young players in the midfield.

KDB is a big miss, but we've weathered that storm before. Since he's 32 years old, we should get used to life without him.

Another Liverpool/Chelsea classic draw. In reality this one was more exciting than the past 0-0 version, Liverpool leaves happily with a point.

Speaking of happy, Mo Salah was not.

Seems like Chelsea woke up after the Salah goal was ruled offsides.

The game was definitely more entertaining than previous iterations and that Bald Prick didn't factor into the outcome.

Transfer market has been rollercoaster for both these squads. Looks like Caicedo is heading to Chelsea and Lavia is headed to Liverpool, both for higher fees than both clubs really wanted to pay.

Its funny I feel like after the Russian had to sell Chelsea fans were claiming poverty now they're somehow spending a Bill in transfer fees and coming over the top with wages to beat out other clubs.

If Chelsea can sign 8-9 more guys this window, I think they're only 4-5 more guys away from something really special.

^^I don't think any Chelsea fan was claiming poverty, I think Chelsea fans were worried that because Roman had ties to Putin they were going to go under due to the government sanctions, because in reality Abramovich could have refused to sell and tried to fight it in court (he would lose) and that they would go into administration like Pompey did 10 years ago. He sold to a consortium that learned how to utilize the market and FFP loopholes that are now closed.

We have raised $250 million in player sales and turned the squad over in 3 windows. There have been misses and if we don't qualify for Europe FFP is probably going to come into play but the quality in midfield now and having a coach that can handle egos means they will be in the European spots, maybe not the Champions League, but they will finish in the Top 7 this year.

Caicedo was always going to choose Chelsea, personal terms had been agreed back in June. Its just a matter of meeting Brighton's valuation. I don't think they are done yet, but need some more outgoings, Gallagher (who played great Sunday), Maatsen, Cucurella are all rumored to leave. Lavia apparently wants Chelsea, and Olise is a possibility as well.

Another trophy added to the cabinet. Ederson still needs to prove he can stop a penalty in a shootout. Although Palmer showed flashes of brilliance, the jury is still out on him filling Mahrez's shoes.

Given the Saudi government's massive investment in soccer, this seems inevitable.

Quote :
"The news first broke with a report in the Italian national sports newspaper Corriere dello Sport last week that the Saudi football authorities want to be allowed entry to the new expanded UEFA Champions League beginning in the 2024-25 season.

According to this report, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation in Riyadh and executives of the four major Public Investment Fund-owned Saudi clubs are preparing a proposal to present to UEFA that would allow the Saudi Pro League's winning team to gain "wild card" entry to the Champions League."
