First few episodes are slow but turns in to a really well done hard sci-fi show

Haven’t gotten to the end but the writing and directing are great. Better than the book IMO

Watched the first episode last night, like you said it’s kind of a slow burn and it didn’t give me that immediate need to keep bingeing the rest, but good/interesting enough that I plan to keep watching. I haven’t read the books

3 not three

i finished watching it. overall i liked it, and i hate to criticize bc there's such a lack of decent sci-fi out there, but some of the acting irritated tf out of me (Eiza González and Alex Sharp mostly) which probably was only half their fault and the underlying writing/directing was more the issue. anyways, i don't really post in entertainment and my opinion isn't worth shit so i'll see myself out now. see ya later bugs

Yeah, I hated Auggie, thought the writing and acting for her were both terrible

It was ok. Dragged at times. Some of the dialog was cheesy.

Seemed to me a sophon could F the world up in about 3 seconds flat. I had to look up on Reddit as to why they can't.

The video game premise was boring imo but everything else was fine.

I probably missed it, but how was it determined that humans would advance much faster than the San-Ti? I know they laid out humanity's timeline as a comparison, but it doesn't make any sense. I feel like there's a lot of info missing from the show.

^it was based on both civilization’s histories, humans had already advanced much faster, so they would continue to do so. After the 400 years it would take to get there, humans would have surpassed the San ti

The nanofiber thing was very goofy

Seems it would have been very likely for any data to be destroyed by water or fire; or just end up at the bottom of a moving body of water

Also cold that somebody sacrificed their own child

^^^
The sole purpose of the video game in the book was to basically explain the math/science behind the actual 3 body problem, it’s sort of a non-sequitor to the actual plot really

^its sci-fi not a documentary
