In the SEC here is a potential for 5 teams to fnish at 6-2 in conference

I know Texas v Texas A&M winner goes to Atlanta. What happens if A&M wins. All the 5 Teams have losses against each other. Does anyone outside of Tennessee and A&M really want to go to the SEC Championship, especially knowing a loss eliminates them from the playoffs?

Did anyone watch the Army vs Tulane game last night? I was hoping to watch Shark Tank, but I was subjected to this snooze-fest instead.

I don’t necessarily dislike the idea of a 12 team playoff. It’s cool that Arizona State gets to make the playoff even if they have no chance of winning the whole thing. I’m fine with that.

But a 3 loss team that didn’t even play in their conference championship has no business making it. Losing 25% of your regular season games should be disqualifying. I’m good with the auto bids from conference winners. But if you go 9-3 there’s absolutely no defense for you making the playoff imo. I will not at all be surprised if 9-3 Bama makes it. And they could certainly make a run in the playoff. But don’t get your doors blown off by 6-6 Oklahoma and don’t give up 40 to Vanderbilt. It’s fucking stupid that they have a shot to make it over SMU that went 11-1 regular season. I’m not trying to cape for the ACC. But debating the merits of a 9-3 team making the playoff is nuts.

It’s also dumb for the committee to rank 25 teams. Then they can say “Alabama beat a ranked Mizzou but SMU didn’t beat any ranked teams”. Well yeah sure, because you made the subjective decision to rank Mizzou and not, say, Duke. It’s like working backwards to arrive at a desired solution. I’m not really crying “conspiracy” so much as just saying it’s very flawed and the committee is inherently biased even if they don’t set out to be biased.

Maybe rank the top 15 ish teams and then have a “also under consideration” group of teams. Idk. It’s a dumb format.
