course comments :This is a good course for outdoor leadership minors to take. The first hand instruction in winter backpacking expeditions and ice climbing are great preparation if youre interested in technical climbs such as Mt. Raineer.

class comments :We went to the White Mountains in New Hampshire. We didn't summit Mt. Washington due to weather, but we did make it up Mt. Eisenhower. As long as you are interested in the class (ie you like the idea of hiking/camping in subzero conditions) and actively want to learn more, this class should be pretty easy. I took the class having very little knowledge about using technical backpacking equipment (crampons, ice axes, etc) but now I'm exciting about going back out and practicing what I've learne

instructor comments :No matter what he tells you, Tommy should be referred to as "Coach." And just for putting up with that, he's a great guy. Otherwise, he was always willing to help out and answer any questions, and usually stayed behind with the stragglers to motivate them (me) to keep goin. He even let me borrow gear to make up for what I didn't own (jackets, gaiters).

course comments :I agree with DILLICman 100%. The class rocks. Not for the weak of climbing or cold though. But if you love backpacking and cold weather (and bad curry) this class is definately for you. There's a sweet 10 day trip to New Hampshire during Christmas break. Heck, I might take it again next year! Oh, and the fee is really $400, not $190... It's definately worth it though...

instructor comments :Coach is the coolest, and T-Dash came too. What more could you ask for? He even let us throw down at his place after the trip!
