If you've interested in having a real effect on the Senate President race, I'd ask for your consideration. Sen. Matthews and I have worked together on a great many things, and I'd generally consider us to be mutal proponents. My website, www.efab.org has a great deal of further information, and I'm always willing to answer questions.

Erich Fabricius

Are you going to be a CHASS Senior in the fall? Are you looking for another strong candidate for Senator? Consider me, Jay Kohler, for the senate. A few things I'm for include increased money for the CHASS department, an increase in the declining budget of Technician, and a freeze on the raising of rent to live on Greek Court, which has increased exponentially in recent years. I'm also for GB #16, because like many people, I had a bad freshman year before I turned myself around. And if you can't run because of one small mistake, I think that's ridiculous. I mean, look at our Nation's president today. E-mail any questions to by inbox here or at jpkohler@unity.ncsu.edu if you have any additional questions. I will try to answer all questions. Thanks for your time.

Anybody know WHY Lock Whiteside opposed GB 16. It looked like just a change in the way that part of the constitution looked.

What type of message will we be sending across this wonderful state? You tell me. A lot of you have tried to separate the Executive from the Senate. We need to have a policy of two words: Zero Tolerance. Go to DC in the Senate and look in the House of Representatives or the US Senate. Look there. We have crooks. Do we want that here? I think not. 1 Let’s vote against this and say zero tolerance."

He apparently wants a policy of Zero Tolerance. If Lock has his way he may push for harsher restrictions.

"Sen. Whiteside - I rise against this joke to override the President’s veto (on GB 16). I stood at this very spot against this legislation. I stand here again against this attempt. I’d like to quote Bill Cosby by saying “The proof’s in the pudding”. It was brought to my attention that some people were saying the SBP shouldn’t have vetoed this bill. If you vote to override this veto, you’re voting against 28,000 students."

It is clear he gives no sort of justification for his position, just seeks to make a mockery of the Senate and his constituents' concerns. Do you really want a Senate President that thinks Senate is a joke?

Hello All,
I would like to set the record striaght. I am against GB16. Just because I am against it doesnt mean that I am a bad person. I have to many of my constituents about it and the majority of them are against it. The individuals that you all should give a thumbs down are the senators that tell you that they support GB 16. They had the opportunity to override the SBP's veto and they chose not to do it. If the wanted to pass it the would have all voted to override the SBP's veto. So I think that it is childish to call me a mean person. If you really want to get to know me you will find out that I am a very nice, compassionate, caring person. I know that many of you will not vote for me and I totally respect that and I respect all of you. I wish all of you the best of luck and if you have anymore questions about my position on GB 16 please reply. Thanks !!

Lock Whiteside III
Candidate for Senate President

i agree with you on the veto override, and i did respect the fact that you stood up against them trying to override it again at the meeting a few weeks ago.

but you did totally condescend myself and everyone else that came to those meetings with me and you know it, and that surely wasn't "nice" - don't get me wrong, i respect you as a professional, but there are hundreds of us here that were fighting for gb16, and some of the things you said were a pretty big slap in the face.

gb16 is pretty important to lots of us here. if we don't vote based on what is important to us, what should we vote on??? you're the one being ridiculous

i already said i respect lock, and he's definitely fun to watch in senate... it's not a personal thing at all, and i'm sure he understands and respects that. no one is bashing him, and i'm sure that anyone over there that has talked to me will tell you that i am much more reasonable and level-headed than i am made out to be.

The reason why there is no write in for SCP is because that person has to be approved by the alumni association.

I will adamantly oppose anyone against GB 16 for personal reasons. Also for the personal reasons of my other people I've talked to on campus who are sick of being screwed by the University for every small screwup they make.

Did you know I have a friend who can't be in Student Government because he got a trespassing ticket on Centennial Campus for helping a friend pull his jeep out of the mud when it got stuck four-wheeling?

Did you know I know of several stories in which freshmen had to come to college while paying their own way, so that means they had to work 40 hours a week and attend class full time. They didn't get to ride in on the coattails of a nice scholarship, or on the nice soft cloud of Mommy and Daddy's money, but yet they still work hard to make something of themselves. And did you know that working 40 hours a week, making rent, staying focused in school and whatever other obligations one has, and not dying of sleep deprivation is really hard? And sometimes the pressure is too much and these people give up out of exhaustion and get a bad grade or two.

Let's screw them over more by not allowing them to be in Student Government! Ha ha. That'll show 'em.

Did you know I know of several stories in which students got amassed such an amazing credit card debt while trying to stay afloat in school that they had to stop going to class so they could work two jobs? Too bad Mommy or Daddy couldn't help them out.

Can we screw them over too by not allowing them to be in Student Government the next semester, despite the obvious show of hard work they put into resolving their debt conflict?

No more screwing.

Personally, I think it goes beyond what his position is on that particular bill. His position points to an air of elitism. He is saying that students shouldn't even be allowed to choose who represents them. Then he says that if you do support giving students the right to choose their representatives, you are voting against students. How much sense does that make? If I were still an undergrad, I am not sure if I would vote for someone on academic or disciplinary probation; but I do think I should at least have that right to decide for myself.

I can't say whether Lock is a nice or a mean person. I've never met the man. He could be a living saint for all I know. But the question is, if you don't think that students are good enough to serve with you because they may have made a mistake in the past, how can you with a straight face ask them to vote for you? You'll never receive forgiveness for the things you've done unless you're willing to forgive others and let them have a second chance.

My biggest problem with this year's elections is that one of the members of SG (and an acquaintance of a couple of the candidates running for a position) has access to the servers that tally the votes before the results of the elections are announced. Normally, this wouldn't concern me much, but there seemed to be a case of someone who had fewer total votes than the number of people who openly stated (in Student Government) that they had voted for such-and-such a person. This wasn't a very important position (otherwise I know there could be no way you could tell from just a few votes). I also am surprised about Dustin Choe coming in fourth place, considering he seemed to have support from a LARGE number of student organizations and at least a college council or two.
