Professionally done with a new outdoor projector and sound system...that shit probably cost more than it cost to make Napoleon Dynamite. 3/11/2005 2:30:27 AM |

^^ Nobody would show up then unfortunately.
^ Actually, its rented ... they did the same thing last fall for The Exorcist on the lawn of Harris Field. 400 people showed up ... worked out nicely. I can find out the exact amount if you can hold your tongue long enough not to look stupid. 3/11/2005 7:21:57 AM |

Why are you so defensive? I know you work for the University, but people are going to talk crap no matter what.
And a lot of people would show up for Boondock Saints. It's a much better movie. 3/11/2005 9:33:59 AM |

^^^ Ah, I'm not going to get into it here, I'll send a PM if you are really interested. Its not so much about "working for the university" as it is about knowing the people who do a lot of behind the scenes stuff. People will always talk crap; whether its justified/they get away with it is another matter.
I agree Boondock is a BETTER movie; doesn't mean its the best one to show 3/11/2005 1:40:04 PM |

I'm not unappreciative for people trying to do nice things for students. Knowing that it's impossible to please everyone, I'd just much prefer to keep my own money and go see movies I want to see. It's cool to have events on campus, but there should be an admission fee so that only those interested foot the bill. UAB is Communism, and a black hole for student funds. I appreciate the people, but not the policies. 3/12/2005 12:43:10 AM |

What in the hell does this have to do with how much the projection and sound equipment costs vs. the total cost of Napoleon Dynamite? Come to think of it, I would rather see $40,000 from UAB funds given to NCSU student filmmakers and then show their product in Witherspoon instead of spending some money on an outdoor projector and sound system to show the $40,000 film of some no-cursing fools from the middle of nowhere.3/13/2005 3:53:14 AM |
