Hmmm, do college hockey teams fight like the NHL?

Not serious fights, they get kicked out and suspended for a game (I think) if they have an actual fight.

oh wait, i think i do remember one fight this season, but i've only seen one other one in the past two years where they've dropped the gloves and gone at it (but i haven't been to all the games or anything either). it's still not as often as nhl or minor league hockey though

FWIW, when there is a throw-down, it's as serious as a hockey fight will get. The guys know they are going to get tossed and suspended, so they're all in.

The best fight was in the 2001-2002 season. NC State was playing IUP at home.

It was intermission, and I was the last state player off the ice headed toward the lockerroom. I notice this fight break out where IUP was getting off the ice. It was really odd, because I had thought all our players were already in the lockerroom. I was about to head over there, but Sabo grabbed me before I was able to act like an idiot.... probably a really good thing too, cause I was outnumbered like 23 to 1.

As it turns out, none of our players were invovled in the fight. Our fans were heckling IUP players as they came off the ice. Words were said. One of their players took his stick and knocked this beer all over one of our fans... and that's when all this shit went down. 3 or 4 of our fans were involved(including a sister of a former player). They canceled the rest of the game(which sucked because we were outplaying them and IUP was ranked at the time). Cops came, filed a report and escorted a couple of people out of the rink. This happened a long time ago, so I don't remember all the details. Anyone else remember this?

What rules does college hockey follow? The new NHL ones or the old ones

It's closer to the new NHL rules. no 2 line pass violations... and touch-up offsides.

the major differences I can think of: College hockey doesn't have tag up icing.... face shields are mandatory... Fighting results in suspensions instead of 5 minutes of shame.

Some of the big time hockey schools have some pretty weird traditions. I went to a couple Cornell-Harvard games at lynah arena... and the Big Red fans threw fish onto the ice after they scored. It was weird being at a hockey school.

HA HA! Those fans were my boys! They whooped some IUP ass....

Oh and that sister of a former player, she got her licks in too! An IUP player had welts on his face from her water bottle!

I wish I could have made it out to this one, but I was busy helping my brother move.

Hockey games at the Reczone are a lot of fun

i'll be there, along with many other ex-NCSU icehockey players, drinking myself into oblivion and yelling vulgarities at the hypocritically pious liberty players. yay.

I do find it beyond hilarious when the Liberty guys start talking shit. I was once standing beside a Liberty dad and threatened to report him to Jerry Falwell.
