I also believe that males should have an instant 30% increase in chance of winning tickets.

Been across too many stupid broads that either...

a. don't know whats going on
b. don't know the rules of football
c. are more concerned with finding people they know
d. simply went for the tailgating
e. uses it as a social event

screw them

^ I'm not going to go through 12+ pages to find somebody who has the same idea as me. Just stating my opinion. Obviously if I'm not the first, it really should be done

And I'm not trying to act superior by saying that I stayed the whole game. Fact of the matter was that by the end of the game, you were lucky to see 25% of all the student sections still full. Maybe your group stayed for the whole game...that's great. It's still better to stick around and support your team than to go back to tailgating because EKU got blown out before the end of the 1st quarter.

Alot of people profess to be big football fans, but you can see a real fan's true colors by how they're willing to stay around, win or lose.

I'm closer and closer to doing that incentive points system for the bball season

It's simply too late to implement for this football season for it to actually work. I promise it will be used next year.

I'll admit I didn't stay for the entire game. I stayed for most of it, but after having been in the stadium for over 8 hours and running around the whole time (passed out once from heat exhaustion) I was ready to leave when we're up by 20+ points against a team that delivers a less than exciting game.

I wholeheartedly apologize to everyone who didn't win tickets. But you do have a chance in round 2, and even in on-demand. There are a good number of people giving their tickets up. Just like in the old system, people get like 10 of their friends to apply for tickets and then when they get one they can now release all of the extra. You'll have chance.

mainly that people who go to the low level games have a better (perhaps double) chance of going to the big games (UNC, Wake, Duke, GT)

I think most people would support that now

but the idea for not doing this football season orignially was because we knew people would be confused enough trying to figure everything out...if we tried a priority point system in full scale we would have had 10 times the amount of chaos...which is hard to imagine

^Are all the basketball games gonna be on the lottery system this year? I know some low-level games last year, you just show up with an ID, and get in.

yeah, haven't figured that out yet

I'm not sure people are comfortable w/ the system enough to put all games on the system...I think that could get too confusing really fast

suggestions? (we'll be meeting about this stuff in under a month)

nah, make all games use the system.

Just for the small games where they would normally be given out at the game, do strictly an on demand period. But do on-demand until the game starts. So you would just print your ticket, go to the game, have it scanned.

I am kinda mixed on when you would end on-demand. Part of me says that if you want the extra chance, then you need to be there for the game and not show up at half time. But the other part of me would let it go till the game was over that way, say someone forgot about it, then looked on here, they could still get a ticket and go and fill up the arena a little more. But I lean more towards the first one.

Do you know if students will only have certain gates for bball too?

this is bullshit. The only people I have talked to that GOT tickets (AKA: 3 people out of like, 50) signed up in a LARGE group.

^^That's a good idea. Put all the games online, but make the small-level games on-demand. That way, you can keep track of who's going to the game.

Given the demand for this game, change it so that on-demand tickets can be redeemed until sometime shortly after kickoff of the game and tickets can be cancelled up until kickoff without penalty.

I'm sure there are plenty of people who cancel at the last moment because they can't go, who get penalized, and whose ticket goes to waste, basically fucking everyone over. It's silly that the tickets are going to go to waste, especially on a game as big as this.

I know that I, for one, will be checking on-demand every second of every day it's available to try and get a ticket (if I don't win the second lottery) and I know there are others who will do the same, so to have even one ticket go unused is absolutely unacceptable.

I'm open to the idea of letting on-demand last until kickoff

I'm not open to letting people cancel without penalty until kickoff, because there may be tickets available at the last moment that go unwasted because they waited that late to release them, and someone needs to be responsible for that. If a person has a valid reason for missing at the last minute like that, then they can appeal. But by holding them until kickoff they are effectively destroying the usability of those tickets (given traffic, etc)

yeah, the cutoff to cancel tickets should remain the same. Someone who cancels at the last minute is preventing the people who want to actually go from going. Those who come in at late in the 2nd quarter or halftime would also be penalized if it was up to me. Give the tickets to people who are gonna come on time and stay.

It'd be nice though if there was at least some kind of incentive to still cancelling your ticket if you aren't going to go. Like right now, whether you cancel it or not it on that last day if you aren't going to go it doesn't matter, so there's really no reason to cancel it.

Maybe keep the penalty, but give a little extra benefit of the doubt or whatever when it comes to the appeal of those who cancel it. Kind of hard to explain, since I understand that you'd want to penalize those who wait until the last minute to cancel, but at the same time, at least they did cancel.

Something to think about, I suppose. Like you, I just don't want to see any tickets going to waste.

is bball going to be GA. if we implemented bleachers in the RBC Center then i'd be all for it. we'd probably be able to get more people in anyways. i know Mich. State has bleachers for the student section in the Breslin Center. GA probably wouldn't really affect me since i usually got to the bball games very early, even sometimes when the gates opened.

well bleachers for the lower level temporary pull out seats.

don't be "that guy" that gets in trouble trying to fuck w/ them

just get an usher and have their IDs and tickets checked

and as far as I know they plan to just do assigned seating for bball.....and I'm not sure what you mean by bleacher seating patrick

this is what i meant by bleacher seating. at Michigan State the students sit in those seats that are just metal bleachers. they're able to cram a lot of students in there which makes it very intimidating. i know the 300 level seats wouldn't be converted, but the ones that are in the lower level that are just the temporary kind could be converted over and we could squeeze more in, perhaps even break 20k.

here's another good pic.

No matter how much you guys complain about this system not giving you tickets, I'd be willing to wager you'd stand at least a 50% LESS chance getting tickets using last year's "voucher" system.

C'mon man, don't be so bitter. People will always lose regardless. You stood a better chance of losing with vouchers, and you stand a BETTER chance of winning in the lottery round 2 or on-demand.

If they claimed the tickets and cancel before the second drawing or didn't claim at all, those tickets will go into the lottery. If they cancel after, those tickets will be available for the on-demand period.

In defense of the people who are asking about what to click, I was nervous as hell printing out my ticket this morning. God forbid I slip up and somehow give up my ticket when I was just trying to print it! Irrational, but hey, I wanna see us kick UNC's tail at CF one more time before I get out of here in May and if I somehow lost that ticket, there would be much weeping and gnashing of teeth.

My only concerns with the idea of entirely on-demand for early season Bball is -
1. "Random" as athletics claims it was, they filled from the bottom up. You could show up early and get a courtside seat. Would the computer know not to assign any 300 level before the 100 was filled, and even, not to go too far up on the ends before the sideline was full?
2. It was nice to be able to show up with a group and sit together - how would that work with on demand? Even for early season bball, I want to sit with my friends...not to talk about going to get our nails done or anything stupid like that, but to have someone to talk to about the team and the game, and face it, you and your friends get good at getting loud and rowdy at the games together...my confidence to scream for the Pack is bolstered when I'm beside a friend who is just as crazy for the Pack as me rather than beside some random guy looking at me like I'm an idiot.

well, technically the system isn't written or set up for bball yet

idealy, we would still implement small groups for sitting together

and yes, the software very easily will follow a pattern we tell it to, like filling 100 level seats first, assuming demand is lower than availability

#1 could be easily done . . . a computer does whatever the hell you tell it to do. Just have to set it up to be first come, first serve, and give out tickets from the bottom up.

#2, that might be a little trickier.

just set it up like old block seating for football. The leader lists the unity id's of those people and they must confirm. When they confirm find available seats for that group. That's about the onlly way it would work.
