I also find it amusing that many of you have degenerated to saying

"you're just stupid."

Lol, it's like being in elementary school again!

I don't think you are stupid, by the way. And I appreciate your eloquent arguments, when they exist.

Oh, I appreciate posts that are grounded in fact, instead of conjecture and what-ifs and emotion. You've offered no facts to support the assertion that Brad Cooper is guilty. Just "I felt it in my gut"--which is the majority of the testimony offered by the prosecution.

No, I never said I "felt it in my gut." Sorry. What I found to be the most plausible evidence all adds up to him being guilty.

When you are on a jury (maybe you've already served, and I do hope you get that opportunity since you express such zeal for judicial matters) you will find that all trials are filled with diversions by the defense and suggestions that are just not plausible.

^^Please point out factual evidence that connects him to the murder, since it's not all based on conjecture. And as an attorney, I won't ever serve on a jury. I fancy I know a little more about a defense strategy than you do.

I believe the defense, and their witnesses, were the only ones who didn't lie in this case. Freaking Boz lied a DOZEN times in his closing alone.

^I'm asking you to specify. Unless you're taking the route the prosecution did. "He lied I tell you, I won't point it out specifically, but he did lie, I promise."

Your entire argument is that it had to be the husband because her neck was broken, her earring wasn't removed and they couldn't rule out rape.

No one in this thread would be defending the dude if he had gotten a fair trial and been convicted, but the evidence is OVERWHELMING that he did not do it.

Furthermore, there's the whole issue of "statistics"

Statistics say that Baseball player X bats 1.000 on rainy thursdays..... until he doesn't.

Statistics say that joggers who are killed are almost never strangled to death..... until they are.

Statistics are great when you're talking about a series of things, and you're trying to build evidence of a trend or a pattern. You're not talking about a series of things here. You're talking about one dude, on trial for the murder of his wife. You're talking about one dude, who all of the evidence points away from.

Columbo Generation? CSI generation? Seriously? That is the weakest shit I've ever had the displeasure of reading.

They used to take months to sail across the Atlantic ocean in wooden ships to get to the "New World." Now it takes hours to fly across in an airplane. Why should I be bound to trust the old way? Just because it's the old way? Fuck that. The evidence that this man did not kill his wife is overwhelming in stature, and for you to sit there and gloss it over makes you just as fucking shameful and tactless as the CPD and the Wake County DA's office.

And I really wish she would respond with facts physically connecting him to the murder.

I want to test my Cooper trivia. Maybe they'll come out with a game one day. I will permanently claim the Rosemary Zednick playing piece.

But alas, if she ever responds to the challenge, I will have to argue more tomorrow, because it is time to go to bed and dream of Cooper trivia night.

There's that and the ugly divorce, which he did not want, where he was sure to get stuck paying a tidy sum for spousal and child support. He was a control freak. He took the daughters' passports. He didn't want to lose his daughters. (Yes, I know some of you dispute paternity; fine, whatever, he still was functioning as their father and loved both girls.) Being strangled does point to the husband.

No, I'm not saying that every divorcing husband kills his wife, but when relationships go sour, men have been known to off women. I can think of many examples of this, and no examples of random outdoor stranglings. Can you give me some?

Not true; the Boston Strangler strangled indoors. But he got the nickname because he was unusual. And he strangled a bunch of ladies, but not random joggers.

Sweet dreams.

How can you even link him taking their passports to him strangling his wife? I would take my kids' passports too if I were scared of my wife leaving the country with them, but that doesn't automatically make someone a murderer.

It's a sad sad sad day in this country when statistics and people that watch Colombo can send a guy to jail for life. Let's not bother with trying to convict on reliable witness's or evidence.

Hell. If this was a generation of CSI watching jurors on this trial there's NO way they find him guilty with the bullshit the prosecution tied to pass off.

When I was in high school, a jogger was attacked and strangled by a stranger while jogging around Lake Lynn. The only reason she survived was her dog began attacking the guy's leg, giving her a chance to break free and run for help. If I remember correctly that dog really fucked up that asshole's leg.

It's been really interesting to follow this thread and see the perspective of people who are younger than me (I dub thee, honorably, the "TV courtroom drama generation.")

For the TV courtroom drama generation, evidence includes sophisticated scientific methods such as zooming, enhancing, witnesses confessing to the crime after cracking under the pressure of a flawless cross examination, guest star appearances, unhandleable truths, and shocking twist endings. It is understandable that you would consider the lack of these things "unrealistic."

Scroll your mind back 110-120 years now to a generation who I am going to call the "Sherlock Holmes generation." For many members of the Sherlock Holmes generation, all this newfangled imagery is suspicious. For the Holmes generation imagination is primarily important. They had to be entertained by fiction that wasn't heavily steeped in sex appeal and ultra violence. Patience was their virtue as they slogged their way through each and every fictitious case page by page, not from commercial break to commercial break.

Get back to me when you've solved cases involving spectral canines. Good day kind madame.

I find it really bizarre to be willing to convict someone with the death penalty because, "I've never heard of this sort of criminal act happening before, therefore it's a bullshit defense." I hope to God I never find myself being wrongly prosecuted knowing that could be going through the minds of jurors.
