^^LOL, "if" I were in the market for a sub $400k supercar I would probably go for a McLaren 650S LT or 458 Italia Speciale. Or maybe the Huracan/Aventador. Any of those cars have track capabilities far beyond my driving ability (now or ever) so if I was going to get a top shelf supercar I'd at least like mine to have an intoxicating exhaust note. Hell, throw the Carrera GT onto that list as well.

fiesta SFE ecoboost vs the new chevy 1.0L I3 ECOTEC offering (supposed to be in upcoming Spark)

Both turbo, but the chevy's listed output is ~75hp while the ford is 123hp/148ft-lb

2016 Miata curb weight: 2,332 lbs Just 2 pounds heavier than the 1994 Miata. Real shame though, that they decreased power from 167 to 155 hp

^^^that 148 lb-ft comes at just 1400RPM too. I'd really like to see the power curves on it.

Of course, the new Fit makes 130hp in the new 1.5L NA DI Earf Dreams, but that's way up in the VEETECH - 6000+rpm

Has there been a head-to-head for these cars yet? I'm not really in the market for one, but I am glad that there seems to be a lot more interesting economical cars on the market. Having an economical DD that can produce a few smiles on a curvy road, or actually make a pass on the interstate is all some of us need.

I also read, though, that the 148lb-ft is only generated during short 'overboost' bursts or whatever... although the normal output is still a reported 125 ft-lb. For comparison the new Fit 1.5L NA only puts out 114ft-lb @ 4600rpm.

There's a website that has the segment compared textually, but not in a heads-up situation....if I remember which it is I'll post up.

What got me excited is the day I found a fucking new fiesta SFE sedan for $12k somewhere in NC; should have bought it! That was before I even knew the cost of the ecoboost option.

RE: Focus RS exhaust,

That's probably exactly what the exhaust will be. Doesn't even sound that aggressive to me. If it has no mufflers that wouldn't be unprecedented - neither the Alfa 4C or Neon SRT4 had/have mufflers. There's no federal requirement for mufflers

E39 BMWs...

How solid are these cars in the long run? Not referring to the M5s, rather the 540i w/6sp manual. If I recall correctly they were damn good sports sedans. 0-60 in low 5s and not that heavy.

^good, solid cars, but they will nickel and dime you a lot. 4.4L engines had crankcase ventilation issues. cooling system on all, but M5s seems to be fragile, more so on I6s. look for cars where it was recently changed. they all love go through thrust arm bushings and control arms. rear tire life is dismal due to sporty negative camber settings. i change rears on M5 every 12-15k if i drive normally. body parts are interchangable between models which is nice and cheap fix if you need new hood or panels. if you like steering feel, go with 528i/530i I6 variety as they come with rack and pinion steering and not recirculating ball like 540i and M5s.

i believe smoothcrim, optimusprime and few others had 540i at some point.

Kia Optima, 2011 to 2015 generation. LX Judging by the small wheels. A few owner add-ons (window deflectors, chrome strip along greenhouse, odd spoiler thing at top of rear window.)

No clue what that badge is...

Driving a 2015 camaro (rental) this week... not a huge fan. Feels like I'm trying to look out of a tank/APC, the blind spot/lack of a clear view over the shoulder sucks, and it certainly rides a bit rough.

Go to a empty lot, and try to back into a parking space, without using the rear view camera if it has one attached.

Quote :
"Q : Why didn’t you fix the rearward visibility for the next-gen ? That was the single biggest complaint for the Gen 5.

A: We talked to many Gen 5 customers about the visibility, and they made it clear they were not willing to accept changing the appearance of the Camaro’s iconic silhouette for the sake or rear visibility. We are using increased levels of technology to help with visibility, including a standard back up camera on all models, and available rear sonar."

They built a car you can't see out of, and fixed it by making everyone pay more to have standard backup cameras.

Yeah but nobody really gives a shit about rear visibility anymore so I don't see why it matters much here with the 6th gen Camaro. Plus backup cameras are going to be standard equipment on all cars in a few years so the cost isn't even worth getting into a stink about.

I felt similarly about the BRZ. It had a tall rear end and backing up wasn't fun with that car. I understand the frustration and annoyance, but it's just a waste of time complaining about it...I've given up
