Yep. Same exact non-tournament results this season. Cat "Undrafted" Barber missing the tourney is pretty much identical to Ben "Best player since Lebron" Simmons missing the tourney.

Good points, LSU is far and away the better program, if you want to get drafted.

I'm pretty sure the point is that Johnny Jones is Sidney Lowe-level bad as a head coach.

I think cat barber will make the nba he just needs a year or two seasoning in the d league to get accustomed to the nba game.

That's why guys should leave as early as possible. College really stunts your development as a player once your body matures. You need to be in college while you reach muscular maturity so you can get ample rest, recovery, etc.

But now you need to get used to the complexities of an nba offense, the 3 pt distance, the pace of playour, etc

Barber has nba game if he can knock down the 3. Hes comparable to a Dennis Schroder type player. Hes too damn quick and has a good midrange shot. Hes like a slightly worse shooting, penetrating, more athletic Chris Paul on offense. He will never be nearly the floor general or defensive standout that Paul is but he has that midrange game and ability to probe a defense

Teams carry 3 point to guards and guys like Brian Roberts stick around forever. I think cat can unseat him eventually. Don't forget he's 6'3. That's huge for his chances

He could be like Tim Frazier who the Pelicans signed. Go undrafted, play in the d league for a couple years, have a few 10 day contracts with NBA teams, be the d league MVP, get signed to an NBA team

swofford says we'll be at 20 conference basketball games by 2019. at 18 now. i'm fine with this...allows us to play more conference opponents twice which is good. might miss out on otherwise notable/interesting OOC matchups but probably nothing significant.

If we'd just go to a 16 team conference with 4 team pods, that would be great.

VCU or WVU would be good. VCU brings nothing for football tho.

Neither does BC.

In fact BC should probably be our low water test if considering adding another school. Clearly, VCU is not a better athletic program than BC. However, WVU is by far better than BC. SO I would agree with adding the Mountain-queers.

well, to be fair to BC...they have been in the ACCCG twice in football since joining the conference. they're god awful now, but had a stretch of pretty solid teams upon joining the conference. and historically they are not a bad program.

They're a good school academically. Was it the Matt Ryan and Luke Keuchly teams that got them to the ACCCG?

I think we thumb our noses at WVU academics, but for what they school is for (providing a public education West Virginians) they're pretty good at what they do. I think it would be a really fun school to add.

I'd also love to see South Carolina back in but that won't happen either.

Cincy and/or UConn are probably the most likely. Maybe Navy for the market. Do Navy vets who didn't go to the academy watch/pull for Navy sports?

their first ACCCG was with Ryan at QB in 2007. they made it the following year, but Ryan was gone. Kuechly was actually not on either of those teams. he was at BC in 2009-11.

the academics argument is legit for WV. but it's also a bit of a cop out IMO. aren't UL's academics just kinda meh? same for FSU and, hell, even us? although, to be honest i don't know a ton about most of the ACC schools academically. i'd probably prefer Cincy over UConn. Uconn obviously has the basketball that is better than Cincy, but Cincy seems more balanced. and football is where the money is at anyways.

but i'm fine with the conference the way it is now. kinda wish ND was full-time in football, but otherwise i'd prefer not to expand any more. while it would never happen, i'd be cool with giving BC and Cuse the boot. fuck 'em

probably (definitely) a discussion for a different thread, but this proposes doing away with divisions altogether and just having 4 permanent opponents and rotating the rest. it only really work for football, but i'd be cool with it.

Lol I've stood in the student section of both Reynolds and PNC many times. The PNC atmosphere is so shitty we're not even vulgar in the least bit. We now have insane crowds maybe three times a year, and no I'm not taking about our solid attendance numbers.

That 9 ranking is absolutely spot on. We could have a case for 8 over VT, though.

man, cassell is a shit hole and no one gives a shit about VT basketball.

also, i would like to say that with the advent of smartphones, the student section at state has sucked. i'm going to blame it on that, because i was loud and vulgar cheering for fucking sidney lowe teams.

Cameron holds half the people as the RBC, also much easier to be oppressively loud in a smaller building

that said, i've been in our arena when it has been very loud

We have a lot to showcase with the 4th largest capacity in the ACC, but we need a perennial top 25 team to keep it nearly full.

"NC State #9.... SO VULGAR"

Just looked at that link and was all, "the guy who wrote this definitely went to Carolina."

Clicked on his name and sure enough, "Graduate of the University of North Carolina."

And as someone who went to UVA for grad school, I don't get all the love for JPJ as being a hostile/tough environment to play in. The non-conference games when I was there weren't very full or loud, and when compared to normal ACC games I attended during my last 2 years at State ('11-'12 & '12-'13), the crowds for games like the Duke/UVA game that had gameday during the '14-'15 season weren't very impressive. Definitely a nice place to see a game, and the type of arena I'd love for State to build on Centennial or downtown if we ever got the opportunity, but I always thought the atmosphere at games was kind of meh.

draft express evaluation of yurt7

Quote :
"NC State Fit: Will be NC State's only seven footer but will need to find time in the frontcourt rotation beside Anya and Abu. Those two played 660+ possessions together last year (albeit with limited success according to HoopLens) so it's possible that Yurtseven will be experimented with in a two big lineup. He's a much better offensive player than either of those two and will be complemented defensively by those two rim protectors. Will need to quickly learn to guard the perimeter if the Wolfpack play man to man defense.

He will be one of the better offensive players for the Wolfpack as well. He should be used in ball screens regularly and will be a safety valve as a baseline cutter who can catch every dump-off pass. Can be used sparingly in the post. Will help rebound on both ends, especially if he is able to box out ACC big men on the defensive side to help finish plays.

He already has experience competing against older players and even as a young freshman who will be 18 the entire season, should be able to get 15 plus minutes in ACC play, if not more. He should be a nice offensive infusion for the team whose early defensive deficiencies can be covered by the other frontcourt players.

If Yurt isn't playing at LEAST 20mpg come ACC season, then Anya will have to be playing like an All-ACC player. Yurt just has too much potential on the offensive side to sit behind Anya unless he's just garbage on the defense.

Our starting bigs might struggle on defense, but they should feast on offense, esp. with DSJ feeding them.

in terms of qualifying...that won't be a problem, academics aren't really the issue here. but his amateur status (did he get paid, basically) is what's in question.

(y'all probably knew that, but was just clarifying)
