Okc just summarily dismissed an awesome spurs team. If you don't think gsw vs okc will be a tight series you are nuts.

The Spurs are significantly better defensively than GSW. OKC scored just fine.

Golden State is better than Spurs offensively but the Spurs couldn't score on OKC.

I'm going to do some more research tonight, but I'm likely about to put a huge bet on OKC to win the series before the general public realizes how vulnerable gsw really is.

But ugh I really don't wanna root for them

This okc team is the biggest sleeping giant I've ever seen in the nba. I can't think of a team looking this awesome with this long of title odds ever

I love how you earlier gave OKC like a 4% chance of winning, yet now you think they're going to make it a seven game series or win the title. Go do your "research" buddy

I'm just looking forward to the Adams v. Green fight that's coming in game 2.

Spurs starting to creep back into this.

They have played at an elite level so its a sound argument but i just don't think its realistic for them to play their A game for another series in a row. they have to play great at all times or they will lose.

I think its silly to extrapolate the 5 amazing games they have had in a row while disregarding everything before that. They are just hot right now.

Man, re reading page one of the NBA thread, it's amazing how right I was.

Quote :
"
Spurs just added a couple of big pieces and some depth, but unless Parker pulls out of the decline he's been on for the last couple of years they're still going to have a very hard time against more athletic teams like the 3 I listed above. OKC has made the Spurs look slow, old, and overmatched on the regular, I don't see that changing just by adding Aldridge and West while Tim, Manu, and Parker all got a year older and slower."

That was Ol Yeller behind the shed series. Don't ever judge a NBA playoff game based on game 1. I don't know why people still do that. I didn't think the Spurs can beat warrior and I don't believe the thunder will either but Westbrooke will damn try.

I don't think Duncan will retired. What an unassuming way to go out. But it reflects him so well. Kobe's pandering selfish ass did it right.

Western Finals should be good. If both teams run out their "best" lineups you get some really interesting mismatches on both sides.

I'm glad everybody is as healthy as can be expected, the 3 regular season games were contested, so I don't expect it to be an easy series either way. If I had to place a series wager I'd say OKC in 6, second pick would be GSW in 7.

Boban cost himself a lot of money in that series proving he's not really a viable starting big man. I still think he gets a deal from someone.

One thing I'm realizing today is that kanter can't play against the warriors he would get absolutely destroyed out there. I'm not sure Donovan understands that.

That's the hardest part of playoff gambling. Will the coach make the proper adjustments. If kanter plays much, okc loses period. I think Donovan will figure that out after a game or two, but if it's already 2-0 warriors that may be too late

I think Kanter can hang with Green for a bit. He's not quite at Adams level athletically, but its not like he's Mozgov either.

What's been most impressive is OKC's defense. After game 1, they really locked down. Hopefully they can keep it up against GS.

As much as people are blowing up OKC's performance this series, I think they're also ignoring GS struggling a bit against Portland. Although it was a five game series, three of OKC's wins could have gone either way. They're not exactly blowing through the playoffs right now. Their defense looked horrible against the Blazers.

This should be a great series.

People are forgetting the Spurs got fucked out of two wins based on bad calls. Not to take away from OKC, because they took advantage, but that series could easily gone 7 or 6 with SAS winning had they not gotten so screwed.

Fucked out of two games? The last game in San Antonio the Thunder had the lead when calls were "missed". OKC still has the advantage even if the calls were made.

The second game in SA was nuts...but SA still got the ball on that inbounds with a 3-on-1 break and failed to convert. And even if they make the call, OKC would ultimately haven't gotten the ball back with a chance to win.

It's not like the refs missed last second calls that definitely determined the outcome of the game. OKC was clearly the superior team in this series and they're playing their best ball of the season. Getting production from the bench (better rotation choices being made by Donovan), playing tough defense, and Westbrook and Durant are playing at an elite level.

GS should be nervous.

Idk man when the league comes out TWICE and says they botched calls, that's got to count for something.

I think it will really depend on adjustments and health and which Westbrook shows up- one that's out of control and trying to force shots, or one that plays smart. It'll be a great series for sure.

We're obviously splitting hairs at this point, but the refs also missed the violation by Ginobili...and admitted it, since that's what you're banking your "got fucked out of two wins" statement:

Quote :
"NEW YORK (AP) — The NBA said Tuesday there were five incorrect non-calls on the wild final sequence in San Antonio, including a foul on Oklahoma City's Dion Waiters that referees earlier had already acknowledged they missed.

The league agreed with the refs that Waiters should've been whistled for knocking Manu Ginobili back with his elbow to create space to throw an inbounds pass, but also ruled in its Last 2 Minute report that Ginobili first committed a delay-of-game violation by stepping on the sideline as he was defending."

Winslow actually played very well today. He even took on the task of playing the 5 for a little bit even though its not his position. He's a great defender and if he fine tunes his jump shot he can be a monster in about 2 years.

Fuck all you junkies and fuck your short memory

That series is over. Golden state is severely outmatched.

I'm kinda pissed because my huge bet on cleveland to win it all was mostly based on how overrated golden state is.

Cleveland was going to wax golden state but now I'm starting to worry about little... okc just looks like a juggernaut.

But i think the reality is okc is an extremely flawed team and once they face a complete team like cleveland they will just come unglued.

I think Cleveland could sweep Toronto they are that loaded. I gotta hand it to lebron, he put up with some gawd awful teammates for 9 of his 11 seasons. And this year he knows his team is stacked so he's just saying incendiary things to the media knowing he's either going to eat curry alive or curry will flame out prior to the finals.

It's basically a win win for him, because neither gsw or okc can guard lebron. It's really just not fair when he has good teammates. As much as I enjoyed watching him compete on inferior teams, I feel like when he wins he finals mvp and brings a championship to cleveland this year it will really cement his legacy as the best basketball player of all time

The bottom line is it's the playoffs and hey are gonna take the ball out of Currys hands.

Klay can't dribble. Draymond an't shoot. Barnes and bogut can't do anything. And iggy is washed up.

As good as curry is they will be much better next year when he's not stuck with Barnes and bogut. If they had marvin Williams and Cody zeller instead they'd skate thru the title

So, if OKC can just hold serve at home (no easy task) they can win in 6. GSW will win game 2.

I think our boy face is going a bit overboard. OKC's big lineups will push the Warriors this series. They need much better defense from Bogut and Ezeli and they need everyone to get involved on the glass. They actually rebounded pretty well this game it was more the turnovers and poor execution down the stretch that cost them. Also, Curry cannot guard Westbrook for more than 15 minutes a game.

If OKC can pull this out they won't have the same size advantage against the Cavs. Kanter, Adams, Ibaka won't be able to muscle around Love, Frye, Thompson, and (if they use him) Mozgov.

i love some face posts, but just to recall from a mere three weeks ago :

Quote :
"Ok, I didn't expect okc to be very competitive in this series but jesus...

Granted they are rested but this is a whitewash.

I think it's pretty clear durant needs to go elsewhere to win but i mean i can't think of anywhere to go besides golden state.

His window is really shrinking to win a title. Between his foot injury and the relative strength/youth of gsw and sas he's got serious issues.

I think his best case scenario is curry comes back out of sync and spurs take them down. Then he can safely go to golden state without looking like a total sidekick"

Great game for OKC last night, going to be a fun series. Cleveland will beat anyone if they shoot as well as they did against my beloved hawks, but otherwise will be a toss up in the finals IMO

The final will still probably be GSW vs CLE, kinda like Bulls vs Jazz 20 years ago. And Curry will OFFICIALLY be the real Jordan successor if he wins the final MVP. So it's like a battle between Curry and Lebron, who are the two kids both born in Akron OH, to fight for the title of Michael Jordan II. Fun and interesting to watch, because this has never happened before on Kobe vs Lebron. I think the trend is going in that way.

The reason OKC plays so hard is that this could be the final year for KD as a OKCer. This is like a make-or-break year, kinda like the final year of Lebron in Miami with Wade, which was 2013-2014 season.

And I think face got drunk.

Actually that's pretty accurate. Usually I sleep every other day

Gsw was rested coming into that game and durant/Westbrook shot like crap .

They decide they couldn't play bogut and we already knew they couldn't play speights.

They went with ezeli who is key to this series and he got 4 fouls in 8 minutes.

They tried going small it didn't phase okc. Their size is just killing people. If I'm golden state I'm not the least bit worried about losing barnes or ezeli in the offseason. I'm hoping looney develops and I'm throwing my money at horford

I mean I could bitch about it, but that wasn't what cost them the game. When you're up by double digits at the half and go cold for the rest of the night, you're not going to beat anybody.

With that said, it's one game. I really don't see OKC beating them three more times, but who knows. I do know that Adams' dumbass monkey comments are going to light a fire under the Warriors' ass and I expect a win tomorrow night...

Really? The Warriors should win because they're supposedly the best team in the NBA with the best player on the planet...and because they never lose two in a row, much less at home.

Those comments should have absolutely zero effect on the next game.

No one is talking about boguts injury. Thats why they couldnt play him , rebound, or run good offense in the 2nd half. Festus and speights play to score while bogut plays his role. Adams and westbrook dominated once bogut went down.

Sorry I meant to say deng. But if they could salary dump bogut somehow and get horford that would be clutch.

I just can't believe okc. They slept walk through the regular season. Like you start to realize just how good that durant, ibaka, adams Frontline is but where the hell was it all year...it's just absurd how few wins they had.

I guess with the injuries to ibaka, durant, and west brook last few years they were just pacing themseleves.

I just think thompson is the guy who can really outsize adams. Clearly lebron can hang with durant. Kanter is completely unplayable against cleveland. Irving can hide on roberson. Smith can guard waiters. Delly can play Westbrook somewhat effectively. Frye or love can guard ibaka.

Ifor valanciunas can't go toronto is just completely outmatched they will have way too much trouble scoring.
