Quote :
"Do people actually contest this? "

It's not that people contest it. It's that MANY college educated "liberals" on the left ignore this reality because they don't want to sympathize with the marginalized victims of corporate globalism.

They DON'T WANT to change the current capitalist model of labor exploitation, because in their bubbles, they're doing alright. And in order to accept this current economic model, they have to victim blame the marginalized (often uneducated) working class and label them as RACIST MISOGYNIST LOSERS who deserve their current fate. They have to ignore their valid grievances by adopting a "bootstraps" mentality.

Now, of course, Corporate Democrats will go on and on about Hillary's (and other establishment Democrats) "platform," and how it would have been preferable to Trumps for those voters, which is true. But they also have to ignore her track record (and the track record of other corporate democrats) on issues of trade, economic policy and financial regulation. Because in that respect, corporate democrats are not much different from corporate republicans. That's why they have to focus on wedge issues like identity politics in order to brand themselves as "populists." And after a certain point, that message backfires and gives rise to the jingoist, ultra nationalist voices on the far right.

You can take all you just wrote and put together 100% equivalent 3 paragraphs for Republicans and how they operate.

As long as poor republicans are fighting poor democrats rich republicans and rich democrats will keep getting richer. Then those rich people will continue to fund politics on both rides to keep poor people fighting and the cycle continues. Then we all argue on a message board.

Cool, Jeff Sessions wants to "bring back" the 80s style war on drugs. Seems like progress

Anybody know if Sessions has any type of investments in private prisons or prison supply companies? Because that is the only thing a war on drugs would be good for.

The Core Civics (old Corrections Corp) chart is hilarious. It bottomed out at $12 after falling from $35 after the "came ar her like a bitch" tape. Then doubled in value after the Trump win.

Trump ran on America first. I don't agree with most of the things he ran on but he should definitely be criticised by his supporters for going against the things he ran on.

+some for basically completely flipping on every campaign position within the last eight or so hours.

Also, Bannon is more or less a non-factor at this point and that is good. The Breitbart 180 is gonna be a sight to behold.

Brags about the Estes victory in Kansas.

Not a peep about that school shooting though.

But we'll blow 6 billion on a completely ineffective missile strike.

Our previous policy is to drop the biggest non-nukes available to take out what, 36 terrorists? Our drone strikes are probably more effective.

The MOAB can also clear mines, traps, explosives, and destroy shallow tunnels. Enemy causalities aren't the only measure of success. This strike was also months in the works, Trump just happened to be in charge.

Seriously, there is no difference in this and dropping a couple JDAMs. It's 100% a non-issue.

I feel like this was both a test and a message. Message to NK to say we can fuck you up without nukes and also a test so that if they need it to clear the DMZ it'll do what it's supposed to do.

According to you. Whether or not we're dropping bombs, or "it's been in the works for months" isn't the issue. It's the interesting timing of both this and the strike on Syria.

"Oh fuck, this Russia thing is really picking up steam, let's bomb something!" is the message that I think both of these are sending. ESPECIALLY since Trump was so isolationist in the campaign. His ability to flip flop is breath taking, especially since both the GOP and his voters (for the most part) think it's perfectly fine.

Oh and fuck him saying it's "my military" no ass-clown, it's our military.

A bomb that has to be delivered by an AC130 doesnt send any messge at all to North Korea - they could shoot it out of the sky the minute it crossed into their borders. It's a 100% non-issue that has nothing to do with Trump and more to do with the media's desperation to create news combined with the Democrat's "theory of everything and how Trump is masterminding it all" hysteria.

I'm pretty sure that if it came to us flying into NK airspace to drop ordinance, we're not just going to mosey over their borders with a single AC130 and drop a bomb.

A conventional bomb with a blast radius of 1 mile absolutely sends a message. That bomb is slightly less powerful than the atom bomb dropped on Hiroshima and it costs about the same as 16 cruise missiles.

You want to easily clear the thousands of artillery pieces aimed at Seoul? You want to punch a two mile hole through the DMZ in one strike?

The MOAB is designed for large formations of armor. This type of weapon absolutely sends a message. It's the only logical reason we would have used it in Afghanistan on 30 retards with AK 47s.

NO NO NO NO

I'm tired of the media reporting this shit, it's blatantly wrong.

The Hiroshima bomb was 15 KILOtons of TNT

MOAB is 11 tons.

There is a huge difference between the two. Literally a factor of 1000.

This thing roughly the same NEW as 20 Mk-84s,

The only logical reason we used it in Afghanistan is because it quickly collapsed miles of tunnels and eliminated any need to risk US personnel, and we had one at our disposal.

Here's my take:

Trump's time in the WH has been an unmitigated disaster and it's obvious he has no idea what the fuck he's doing. He can't implement any real policy because he doesn't even know how a policy comes to fruition in the first place. He's used to barking orders at people and getting his way, and if he doesn't he gets nasty and retaliates. tl; dr : he's in over his head and he's been doing 180s all over the place, and he is exceedingly unpopular and loser-like.

My gut says that Trump knows that the only way to get people to buy into his bullshit (or at least acknowledge his authority and bow to it) is to tap into the undercurrent of imperialism and nationalism in the US that got him elected in the first place. He wants a dramatic and chaotic war because it's the only chance he has to distract everyone from all of his blunders and shift the focus away from the Russia conversation. It's the only possible way he'd ever get reelected (assuming no impeachment by 2020). His aggression in the Middle East seems like an epic poker bluff to me, which is why I think it's silly to compare the IS bombing and the Syria strikes.

I wonder where these numbers come from anyway? Are these extra numbers just the number of bodies being pulled out once they dig out? Is IS missing that many people? Did 36 die and 68 pass away later from injuries or were the other 68 just obliterated so bad their bodies weren't left?

^^ I may have casually mentioned that a time or two (maybe once?) but I don't think that swung the election in any significant way. Probably less so than African-Americans not showing up to vote in larger numbers. Enthusiasm gap and whatnot. Not sure why you would associate that talking point with me though I have seen it from some big Clinton supporters.

There was at least a handful of those way to the left of me on here even that were all about Trump's rhetoric on cleaning up Washington. Obviously those people didn't know much about his history and fell for it. That and Trump the Dove wasn't an all uncommon thing on twitter from some on the left as well.

Doubt they voted for him even, though.
