Bush is the man. My favorite player... go Reggie.

This thread needed to be made for the inevitable argument all year long of how good/bad he is...

He's not going to be a pro bowler anytime soon. He's the second best RB on his team and probably about 6th or 7th in the NFC. That's not going to change until he learns to run between the tackles with some effectiveness. He's dynamic, and that's great, but a RBs main job is to run the football. It's sort of like Mike Vick. Yeah, it's great that he could run and he had exciting moments, but QBs have to be able to throw the ball consistently to be good as QBs.

It won't happen until he supplants McAllister, and Deuce has a couple of good years left in him.

Then he has to beat out Frank Gore, Clinton Portis, Brian Westbrook, Steven Jackson, etc. It'll be a few years yet unless the Saints trade Deuce and he learns to run between the hashes.

He won't be a good running back until he realizes sometimes a 2 or 3 yard run is the best you can get. I also love the plays when he runs to the outside and backpedals short of a first down so he won't get hit. You might expect that from a QB, but not a RB in the NFL.

He's good at reverses.

But not as good as Dallas Clark.

It's a harsh realization for guys coming out of college who have always relied on their speed or athleticism when they suddenly find out that the 250 pound man chasing you is going to catch you.

Everyone in the NFL is big, fast, and athletic. Oh, and if you're a rookie (especially one who comes out early) you're a boy competing against men. There are only about 1700 guys on active NFL rosters at a given time, so if you're actually playing you're the best of the best of the best. The streets are littered with college stars who couldn't cut it in the NFL. It's survival of the fittest out there. Don't make the mistake of thinking you're the best athlete out there just because you had some college highlights.

Reggie needs to hurry up and figure out that the big play isn't always there or he's going to get hurt.

...for the same reason Michael Vick was a pro bowler. Constant sucking off by ESPN based on nothing the guy has ever done on the field.

Bush was one of, if not the best college players I've seen in my lifetime. I won't take that away from him

Then again, so was Danny Wuerffel. Bush is overrated thus far in his career. He wasn't the best rookie on his team last year and he's not even the best running back on his team.

he'll be ok, but not more than that....

12 carries 38 yards 3.2 yards/carry 9 long 0 TD's

those are not pro-bowl stats by any stretch

Bush was not impressive last night, but he'll have some big games this year. I doubt he'll be a pro bowl RB this year, but he'll continue to get better as he gets more experience.

^^ Thursday night fucking sucked, Sean Payton should have called way more runs. No fucking rationale behind Joseph Addai getting more carries than Bush... AND Deuce... COMBINED.

I was watching it and was getting pissed and I don't even like the Saints. I liked Bush ever since he made the "vaunted Va Tech defense" look like 2nd grade school girls falling over themselves his sophomore year... I guess 1.5 yard dumpoffs are better than pounding Deuce up the middle to open up the field a bit??

Lets face it, Bush is out to protect himself, much like Torry Holt ducks instead of taking a hit.

If I were getting paid millions, I wouldn't want to get banged up either.

The guy has no heart. Didn't have to work to get what he has.

Thats the bottom line.

^^ exactly, sir. The Saints' offense did exactly what the Colts' defense wanted them to the whole night. I'd put that one squarely on Payton.

he dropped the pass, but he more than made up for it with the toss sweep for the touchdown on the next play.

I like Bush. In fact, I want more of it.

I heard on the radio yesterday the first suggestion that the Texans made the right choice in taking Williams over Bush.

May it be the first of several to come.

yeah, Jaworski, Ditka, Parcells, et al all have said that he is not a "real" RB....

the knob slobbing IMO was last year. I honestly havent seen much of it this year, and rightfully so, the Saints have been all around terrible.

Parcells said that Williams was at the top of their board last year.

Seems like coaches/GM's had a different opinion in who was the right pick than ESPN hype mongers.
