Sure, you're spending less, but you're making every car in the right lane slow down to less than 15 miles per hour and then stomp on the gas to pass you on the left and accelerate back to 35 before they get rear ended, completely fucking up their fuel economy.

When you do that on a congested street like Hillsborough I really question whether you're helping or hurting fuel consumption as a whole.

Also, you piss me off.

it pisses me off when i get behind those fuckers on Trailwood when there is a good amount of traffic going both ways

it's impossible to pass them because that road is narrow as hell already and you cant see oncoming cars because the road is so curvy

why don't people ride on the sidewalks when there aren't people on them?

if you have a sandwich and decent accuracy you can usually hit them

I tend to play it safe and go for the body, but sometimes I'll go for the headshot, especially if they're not wearing a helmet

Ive only filled my car three times since January because of riding to work. And one of those fillups was on the return trip from above the border.

it's good for physical fitness unless you get hit by a driver or inhale too much exhaust

maybe if more people rode bikes or walked to class instead of jumping in their cars to drive half a mile down the road hillsborough wouldn't be so congested

when I ride my bike, I generally stay out of the way of cars

except for when I can't, in which case they need to get the fuck off my ass

You would think/hope that NC State or the city of Raleigh would be aware of the fact that Hillsborough is used by a good number of students and as such would accomadate by adding a bicycle lane or something equally intelligent. But then again this is Raleigh we are talking about so oh well.

there's no room to widen hillsborough st, unless you consider losing the hundreds of parking spaces.. .. . .

^ if you can acknowledge that it's not likely that hillsborough will be widened, and recognize that people in this area are predominantly college students, then why is it so hard to accept the fact that bicycles are going to be on the road sometimes, adding on maybe 30 seconds to your trip time. as both a cyclist and driver, i've seen far more close calls come as a result of some asshole driver and their god-complex than a cyclist just being there on the road.

A minority of cars on Hillsborough Street are people going to class.

that's retarded.

They don't belong on the road and since apparently they don't belong on the sidewalk, then make some fucking bike lanes already.

Whether or not it is illegal to ride on the sidewalk, I will most definitely continue to ride my bike on them because of assholes like you guys who throw shit out your windows.

If I could get hit by a car and live, I would totally ride down the middle of the road just to piss off all you douchebags who complain about bikers.

bicycles are supposed to abide by the same rules as cars. So they have as much right to the road as you do. What pisses me off is when those fuckers don't follow traffic laws(stop signs, lights, etc) and almost get plowed

Ha-ha! Like some of those Hillsborough Street fuckers that are always screaming about sharing the road or bicyclists against the war or some shit.

And the bike ride/protest du jour must always end at Sadlack's. Those are the rules.

It's not illegal to ride a bicycle on the sidewalk in NC. You may find some shithole town that has a local ordinance against it, but there is nothing in the NC General Statutes preventing it.

You should try riding a roadbike with 1 inch wide tires 25mph on a sidewalk.

Not going to happen.

In fairness, no one is making you stomp on the gas. If you get rear-ended it is the fault of the asshat behind you (and I've been that asshat) not your own.

Besides, by current laws, bikers have the same right to make you waste gas by slowing you down as you have to waste gas by buying whatever car you might want.

Bikers can be self-righteous douchebags though, no doubt.

They've given out tickets and warnings around campus for riding on sidewalks. Campus police was promoting bicycle safety and there was an article in the technician last year about it.

In the end, I would say even if the vehicles are slowing down and speeding up again, the biker is saving gasoline.

I mean, fuck, if I had a bicycle that wasnt a mountain bike I would ride that shit to school. Shit, I'd take my Longboard if I could.
