think I am done.

I know that some people want to bring in new people, but I don't really think tww wants new people too much. I know I am not a great user, and I don't really care if people have an opinion about me, but there is obviously a core group that will always be friends, which is good. But I actually wanted to make a few friends, and I think I did, but I have already gotten a few pretty mean PMs from certain users (some may or may not be trolls) but some were pretty harsh and I actually was bummed by one in particular. (and I am not talking about anything in chit chat, that is fair game) I don't want people I don't even know making me feel bad.

Anyway, this isn't a good bye thread or anything (although my spidey sense hints that a parody will be made soon), I just wanted the mods or whoever is concerned with recruiting to understand why they are probably not going to get new people, but hopefully a few good posters will show up eventually

I'm sorry you feel that way, Klatypus. TWW has always been a bit of a pill to swallow... However part of me feels that TWW's reputation for being cruel is both a self-propelling and a self-aggrandizing one. Users hear that it's a cruel place to be, and use that as an excuse to be even meaner / be the worst of the worst all in the name of "trial by fire".

I hope that you do stick around, but I understand that it's not worth hanging around a place where you're being abused and harassed. If there is anything a moderator can do (in terms of moderating an issue that you're having with another user) please let one of us know.

We do value our users here, and understand the need to attract new users to our userbase. I think that we all would benefit from taking a moment or two to reflect on e-bullying, and consider how it touches us all.

Do people even do that? I mean just send mean PMs to other people? I know I have a reputation for being a bad poster and an asshole, but at least I'm a douche in public. Damn, I've had people PM telling me I'm a dick for being an asshole, but I PMed the person I was being a dick to and apologized (but proceeded to troll the person who initiated concern for the person I was being a dick to until I ended up on his ignore list, since he too is a big asshole ). But being a dick in PMs is just cowardly. At least allow the rest of us to call you out on your dickheadedness.

well it bothered me for a little while, then I got over it, so now my attitude is 'whatever'. I don't care if people hate me at all, it is to be expected, especially when my behavior is viewed as 'bitchy'. I have no problem with people talking shit in chit chat to me, and I have no real worries about people trolling me with PMs. I was only bringing this topic up because the atmosphere at times would not encourage new people, especially people that are not as 'bitchy' as I am.

When coming to this site many students are probably glad to find an uncensored venue on the web to converse with other students and alumni, as was I, and basically shoot the shit... but for someone like me I guess, who does not belong to other chat forums, some of the responses were at first really mean, but I learned to get thicker skin... not a big problem.

I am not bringing up this topic because i fell my personal experience requires torches and pitchforks, I am letting people understand the complexities of having 10+ yr veterans with their preformed cliques and mixing that with new people, and why 'just getting the word out' will not keep new people around.

It is fine to troll people to keep tww the way the users want it, I am not for babying anyone. But the the particularly harassing/disturbing PM was too far for most people IMO.

and no, I don't care to call them out because it won't settle anything, my ego was injured for approx. 2 days then I moved on, putting them up (the PM is deleted anyway) is only going to make me feel that I am not over it even tho I am , and it is just not my style. I am sorry if someone views it as passive aggressiveness, but I think making a thread in chit chat crying about my poor feelings would be passive aggressive, where in the feedback I can make a legitimate statement to those that are in charge of the site/people wanted to help tww bring in new people (and perhaps bring perspective to some people who may not understand being a n00b anymore)

It might not help in your case, but it would go a long ways to preventing future PMs which would be guaranteed to drive off users. I can recall many, many instances of a new user (chick usually) registering, posting, and being driven off by idiotic veterans on this board. There's a problem here and it needs to be dealt with.
