Both Sam Neil and Jeff Goldblum will be in this movie, as well as Mark Ruffalo. So this will essentially be Jurassic Park with Asgardians instead of the raptors and Hulk instead of the T-Rex.
And I'm totally ok with that. And this:

It looks like Guardians because they are both set in the Marvel Cosmic setting, which has a distinctly wacky/awesome look.
Jeff Goldblum's character (the Grandmaster) is brothers with Benico del Toro's character (The Collector)

^ Keeping in mind that the MCU isn't necessarily exactly like the comics (so this may not be true for the movie versions if they decide to change it), they are two of what's known as the Elders of the Universe. Immortal beings nearly as old as the universe who are not necessarily great powers like Galactus or Eternity but who have accrued great power and wealth from their immortality, they usually have a specific interest.
The Collector obviously wants to collect things, and the Grandmaster is obsessed with games and contests. 4/10/2017 5:57:15 PM |

I think it's pretty obvious that tonally it is very similar to guardians of the galaxy. I'm okay if they want to portray all of the marvel cosmic universe in this kind of light to lend more consistency to it all. 4/11/2017 12:36:06 PM |

The color scheme alone in the opening shot is a direct copy from Guardians of the Galaxy. I know that all y'all hate that word "copy", because inspiration at some point has an origin, so let's just say that it is heavily influenced by the recent highly successful surprise hit from the same studio. Honestly, it looks like they went in and shot that on a Guardians set, right after they had finished filming a Guardians scene.
Then there is the light hearted humor sprinkled throughout, as well the main hero going on about something being awesome at a moment when he should be scared to death.
I dunno, seems heavily influenced... in a good way.

this is the opening shot:
are you talking about the title screen before you hit play??? Because that is straight inspired by comic legend Jack Kirby, as was most of the visual style of this movie

well if you are talking about that opening shot that i posted a picture of, your statement is completely deserving of an eye roll, if you are talking about the title card, it could be argued that there are some similarities, but i still wouldn't call it a direct copy 4/11/2017 5:31:19 PM |

Pretty typical of Thor to do. The only time he was ever less than jovial was his vision in Ultron.
***Spoilers***
Heimdall (Idris Elba) is rumored to have posession of the soul stone, and that means Hela will probably kill him to get it. During the vision in Ultron, Thor sees Heimdall in hell and says somethign about his eyes, which are no longer glowing the way they did before. This will be the final stone reveal, but who knows how Thanos will start collecting them.

For once I agree with BanjoMan here. I thought Ragnarok was devastating to the Thor universe, and it seemed like the first half of the trailer kinda emphasized that, then all of a sudden Thor is in a gladiator arena just joking around. 4/11/2017 8:24:51 PM |

^same both in the regret and the semi-agreement. its a small thing, but the thor scene seems like it could easily be a Drax scene. In many other ways the aesthetic does seem closer to GOTG than other Marvel movies, but of course that is based solely on the trailer.
i'm 0% worried about it though and def dont think its a "ripoff".
Also Hunt for the Wilderpeople and What We Do In the Shadows made me trust Waititi. 4/11/2017 9:38:44 PM |

This film takes place in the same cosmic setting that was largely established in Guardians of the Galaxy, so of course there is going to be some similarities for consistency across the the shared universe, and the entire MCU has a fairly consistant tone as well. I just dont feel that "it is a complete rip off of Guardians of the Galaxy" 4/11/2017 10:06:01 PM |

^^. I mean... in Thor 1 he was abandoned and exiled from his family and planet, his powers were stripped, and his weapon taken from him for being "unworthy "..... to which he then joked about coffee and needing a horse.
I'm not sure what you expected him to do? 4/12/2017 5:44:14 PM |

I don't think that that's what they are going for.
Even in the scenes where he is chilaxing and talking with Thor, he looks incredibly out of place. It looks like they have CGId in somebody that was copied from a completely different type of movie. It just makes the overall cgi design of Asgard stick out much more.
I didn't notice it nearly as much as when Jane was in Asgard for the second movie, but in this trailer it really sticks out. 7/24/2017 12:48:08 PM |

In the comics is Hulk able to control/decide how big he gets? In that final scene next to Thor he's only about twice Thor's size. Yet in other films and even other scenes, he's so much bigger. 7/24/2017 4:03:36 PM |
