Chase Ink bonus just posted so up to 82k points now. Finished the Sapphire spending requirement a little too late for it to post on the last statement so guess I'll have to wait until the May statement closes. That'll put me at ~$1200 in cash back/statement credits or $1500 on travel. Not bad for only 4 months. 4/15/2013 10:59:57 AM |

I surely wish that PenFed would let me roll over the cash back bonus from purchasing gas via Visa credit card into my debit account, but they will only apply it towards the balance on the card every month. I'm starting to consider another card which offers more in the way of an actual reward. 4/17/2013 8:17:24 AM |

It is, but let's say on average that I'm spending $1000 per month on this card and I only get back $15 which is then applied towards the balance. I feel like I'm already paying off $1000 per month, so $15 is just a drop in the bucket. If I could put that $15 earned in the debit account instead of having to put it towards the balance, I feel like I'd eventually start seeing "something" come from using the card. It's just a perception issue.4/17/2013 12:20:31 PM |
David0603 All American 12764 Posts user info edit post |
So, you'd rather the $15 go into your debit account only to deduct it come next time you pay your credit card? Also, 1.5% is a pretty crappy return. 4/17/2013 12:29:40 PM |

I have the Penfed 5% cash back on gas card, 0.25% for everything else and it gets credited back to the statement bill. Best things about that is I dont have to deal with trying to redeem points plus its a high % cash back which is very good for a normal long-term rewards card (not including the initial sign-up or spending offers on churned cards). Obviously my wife and I only use it for gas purchases which makes it much more worth it. If you've been with them any length of time I'd see what you could do about transferring your limit to that card and using a different rewards/points/cash back card for all your other purchases. They are very easy to work with. 4/17/2013 2:14:26 PM |

No, I pay the full balance of this card every month from a completely separate NCSECU bank account. I just thought that since I am required to have a debit account with this credit account, it'd be nice to have the rewards diverted into that debit account so that it could start growing a little bit. I probably wouldn't touch it until after it had at least $200 in it, and even then it'd probably be for something completely frivolous.4/17/2013 6:24:21 PM |

I just got the PenFed Amex Premium Travel Rewards.
I did not even apply for it, I got a car loan from PenFed and they put the application there already filled out next to the car loan app and I just had to click submit. Supposedly I get 20k points after spending $2500 on the card. 4/17/2013 8:47:14 PM |

Nah, I read about it a little but I've gotten 12 cards in the last 6 months, so I'm holding off applying for any new ones. Too many hard inquiries. Plus, any tough bonuses are easy to achieve via amazon payments. 4/25/2013 10:37:59 AM |

Fair enough. I can still get prepaid credit cards with my CC, so that's another reason I haven't really been too concerned with it. I also get miles with my debit card, so I'll use that for money order purchases here and there. 4/25/2013 1:06:41 PM |

I've done the AMEX Premier Rewards (looks like the 50k points aren't available anymore huh?), and the Chase Sapphire, so planning my next move. I'd like to concentrate on $ over travel miles at this point, so what should be next? Chase Ink? I can do $5k in 3 months no problem. Apparently it's pretty common if it's your first business card. I got the further review message when I applied for the Chase Ink Plus and called the recon line (800-453-9719) pretty much right after. They just ask about your business and what your expected expenses/profit will be which was all BS in my case. 4/30/2013 7:49:00 PM |

Sorry if this has already been covered, but what's the best way to get my points out of Amex?
I saw they have a 35% bonus offer if I transfer to British Airways (I would end up with ~70k points)...but dunno if that would be worth looking into. Looks like they have high fees when you travel on your points...
Also I returned a $200 gift I purchased with it, so now I have a -$215 balance...AND the points. It'd be funny if I could get them to cut me a check. That would mean I spent less than $800 to get the points 5/3/2013 3:47:49 PM |
David0603 All American 12764 Posts user info edit post |
I've had them cut me a check before when the auto pay went through for an amount larger than my balance. I think last time I had amex pts I just transferred them directly to delta since I was booking a flight that day.
I haven't read this article yet but it's fairly recent.

Quote : | "Hello,
Thank you for submitting a quote to our web site. We will get back to you shortly with a cash offer for your miles or points.
Funds will be sent to you via paypal to your verified email address. The quote above includes any banking or paypal fees you may have to pay on your end. Once an offer has been accepted we would need the email address associated with your paypal account in order to send you funds.
In certain instances, we may need additional information to verify your identity prior to sending payment.
We will pay you in advance for your points. In the case of American Express or transferable points, we will tell you where to send the points. We will also help walk you through transferring if need be.
In the case of airline points, we will need the log in, and pin code to the account. We will only use the agreed amount of purchased points. Your information is safe and secure with us. We will not change any of the information in your account. You still will have full access to your air account and can continue to earn points if you desire. You may spend the money we send you, but please do not change the password on the account at any time until the points we purchase are depleted.
In some cases where you have an odd amount of points, we may need to add some points to your account to reach a certain award level. This does not affect you, but please be advised that we may need to do this. The difference between us and the other “guys” is that we pay you in advance for the points, most of the time prior to using the points. This is full payment up front, not a deposit or partial payment. If you have any questions, feel free to email us at info@buyingmiles.net and we will be happy to assist you sometimes immediately.
Thank you,
The Buyingmiles.net Team" |
