We do have a Costco membership but really only go a few times/year. Probably should still get the Costco card though. We do our weekly groceries on Walmart. Getting groceries delivered is so convenient it’s hard to go back to in store grocery shopping for me. I’ll still go to the store for a beer/wine run and then stock up on stuff at Costco on occasion.
I kinda figured Walmart would come out with a new card but haven’t seen any announcement yet.

^i signed up for walmart plus. I think like 50/year promo. Haven't tried delivery yet, thinking of selling vehicle since i have a work truck I can get around in(although would have to coordinate trips like a mofo couldn't just drive whenever)...plan was sell vehicle and get walmart + or uber or instacart delivery. How is produce? I feel like i'd have to pick out my bananas and apples. I could also bike to get those things. But mostly curious on produce and what about frozen things like icecream? Any horror stories on getting way wrong stuff? Do you have to be present at home to get order or do they leave on doorstep? Don't mean to hijack, genuinely curious and I think you'd offer great insight
Also to ^^ are you saying get a costco card and use it to shop at walmart? 9/17/2024 7:31:39 PM |

Produce can be iffy but I’ve generally had good luck. Bananas tend to be on the green side, which is better than the alternative. A few times I’ve gotten meat with an expiration date of the next day. Thats pretty shitty but it’s probably happened like 3 or 4 total times, so not the end of the world. A few frozen things arrive and have clearly been out of the freezer for a bit, not totally thawed but definitely not fully frozen. I’m guessing the driver probably had a stop or two in front of me so my stuff was in the car a bit longer usual. To do a “return” on groceries is annoying. If you received an item in error or it’s damaged or expired they want you to take it to the store for a return. I’m not gonna drive 10+ mins to Walmart to do that. So I’ll usually just lie and say I didn’t receive it, and I’ll get a refund. But that’s a rare occurrence.
You do not have to be home. But obviously for cold stuff, you’ll want to be home to put it away. I think you can request contactless delivery or request that they ring the doorbell/notify you that it’s arrived. I just so contactless. We tip on the grocery delivery, usually like $8-10. You also get free shipping on pretty much all the Walmart.com stuff. Basically the same as Amazon prime in that way. Theres a couple of other perks. You get some base level of Paramount+ included. You also get $.10 off per gallon of gas at Mobil and Exxon stations. 9/17/2024 8:39:28 PM |

Thanks! How has substituting worked for you? 9/17/2024 9:01:23 PM |

Usually they’ll get substitutions right. Usually it’s just swapping out for a different brand or size. Sometimes a product will be unavailable and they won’t make a substitution. Or I won’t see the alert that it’s unavailable in time to make a substitution on my own. 9/18/2024 6:10:42 AM |
