If Arsenal can get Mkhi and £30m from United for Sanchez that'd be a great deal. Seems Aubameyeng could be a real possibility too.
Then force Wenger out in May and hire a real manager and we go again. 1/15/2018 2:57:25 PM |

30 mil plus Mikhi? Overpaying for Sanchez. 20 mil + Mikhi is about fair IMO. Hearing Mikhi doesn't actually want to go to Arsenal. Not surprising but hope we can push the deal through. 35 mil straight is about fair too. 1/15/2018 3:16:50 PM |

^ Just about my exact thoughts on a potential deal. More inclined by the 35mil straight though due to wages and desire to join a flailing (failing even) Arsenal side..
Also - call it pessimism if you will but it's the same old story so far about "possible moves" and then nothing developing. Until we actually make a few signings I'm not holding my breath on anything at all changing even with whatever we get out of Alexis... 1/15/2018 3:31:50 PM |

^lol.
The best part about this saga has been that Arsenal fans can't believe he is going to a direct rival. Well Arsenal we aren't your rivals anymore, you sit 11 points behind on the table and the future doesn't look great for your club.
I know it will help you sleep better at night to rationalize that Sanchez is a mercenary but he gave Arsenal 4 years and in return the club never really progressed. Man United is not as good as City this year but this is still Man United and Jose is still a top 5 manager in the world. Sanchez isn't simply moving for money lmao. 1/15/2018 4:38:41 PM |

^ I never felt it was for the money. Alexis wants to win and that won't happen with Arsenal currently. I have no qualms with him leaving to do that, even to United. My dislike for Mourinho definitely comes from our inability to beat his sides and, in no small part from the media, how he seems to present himself sometimes.
Will United by the place for him to get that championship - we'll see.
edit: Arsenal fans need to be upset at what happened leading up to this point and why he is leaving and not where he ends up. Completely likely he could have gone to United as a free in June so lets at least take what we can get now and move on to fix our own problems.

Yea I doubt we will get him a league title this year but I have seen enough from this team to know we can challenge. There are still a few kinks to work out obviously but Sanchez strengthens us and would be the first step in the right direction for the next year.
I agree I think Arsenal and their fans have been massively let down by their club. Wenger has to take some blame for it now too. This is football and things can change quickly but right now and as long as Wenger is there I don't see it turning around for the club. Especially since Sanchez is on his way out and it looks like Ozil will follow in 6 months. If Arsenal are going to rebuild it has to be with a fresh face IMO. Wenger also needs a director of football badly. He is still a great manager but his transfers (whether this is on him IDK) have been uninspiring and he hasn't properly set up the club for success.
Also looking at the CL this year as well. Not saying we will win it but with Sanchez we have a better shot at winning it. Mourinho is at his best in a knockout competition. I would argue his tactics are even better in a two leg knock out where the defensive solidity makes a huge difference. Again I doubt we will win the CL but certainly excited to see what we can do if Sanchez is in the squad.

I just read this article with Giggs' dad and got the backstory on what a gigantic piece of shit he is. He's human scum and there's a special spot in hell for this dude. Unreal. How you gonna fuck your brother's wife for 8 years, then refuse to apologize, then not even help the guy when he went homeless. That's DIRTY.
https://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/international-soccer/i-am-ashamed-of-him-i-cant-even-bring-myself-to-use-his-name-ryan-giggs-dad-on-wales-appointment-36493358.html 1/16/2018 9:48:51 AM |

I am not going to defend what Giggs did and its definitely some horrible behavior on his part. However there are two sides to every story and in case you didn't know Giggs' dad is basically a pot calling the kettle black.
Giggs changed his last name to his mother's maiden name because his dad was an abusive piece of shit who was never around for his kids. The man is also airing his families dirty laundry to the press (the sun no less). I wonder what kind of payout he received for that? Then there is also this article from 2015: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3031770/Ryan-Giggs-apologises-brother-Rhodri-eight-year-affair-wife-four-years-bedding-final-time.html
Giggs' made some terrible mistakes and lost a lot of respect but I wouldn't give any credence to that article because his dad is just as bad as Giggs. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree it seems. 1/16/2018 10:08:19 AM |

Saw rumblings of Ozil possibly now leaving this window too. That's a massive turnover with ins and outs during the Jan window if all these transfers actually happen. Wenger is going to have his work cut out trying to get them to hit the ground running and then overtake a couple teams to get top 4. I'm not very confident he can. 1/16/2018 3:37:50 PM |

I don't think money has every been the issue. It seems that Arsenal has gotten a director of football that is negotiating though? I think it would be very good for Arsenal.
Also hearing the deal for Sanchez is a straight swap with no money involved. So Mikhi would be a great signing in return IMO but still seems a better deal for us in this regard.
Leaves you with Auba and Malcolm. The money is there for this but is the will there for these players to move? I think if Arsenal end the window with Auba, Malcolm, and Mikhi it would have been great business BUT this relies on Ramsey and Wilshere staying fit. I would imagine you need a midfielder more than another attacker.
Wilshere has impressed me and honestly it wouldn't be hard for him to get on that plane to Russia but I doubt Southgate will use him appropriately. IMO Wilshere is the best holding mid England has. That both personifies how bad England's midfielders are but also how mismanaged Wilshere has been for England. He has great composure in midfield and also picks a pass but he doesn't have the ability to retain possession in front of the 18. Put him in the middle and give him some space and he is a terrific link from Defense to attack. Should be starting with Hendo in midfield and Alli as number 10.

Arsenal hired Raul Sanllehi, former Barca director, a couple months ago. Seems like they’re setting up for Wenger to leave and go to a more modern setup. They also hired the Dortmund chief scout, so there’s reason for some optimism.

Sanchez swap for Mikhi is a great deal for us. Likely arsenal too. Not sure if arsenal could have done much with 30 mil quid over Mikhi. Automatically improves our squad and I am excited to see where Sanchez fits in our system. I love his direct approach to the game and he works his ass off. Anything that makes us more dynamic in the final third is going to be great. That said I wonder where Sanchez slots. Ideally just behind the striker in Jesse Lingards role or in the right in Matas role. Would love to see a front 4 like this:
----------- lukaku ----------- Martial - Lingard - Sanchez
Lukaku has improved his overall game steadily this year and having another goal threat next to him is going to be great for our attack. My worry is tbatSanchez displaces Martial or moves Martial to the right.
Mikhi will also for Arsenals play style more IMO. In Jose's system he is asked to track back far too much and he often doesn't link up well with the attack on the counter. Maybe a more possession based/attacking tactic will do him better. Arsenal also ending up with Auba would be a pretty good January window for them. Still need to shore up that defense but def would be an improved arsenal squad with Miki and Auba. 1/21/2018 9:11:04 AM |

I’m ok with it as well. Rare that both sides can be happy. Arsenal will do well this window if they get PEA and resign Ozil and Wilshere (which I’ve read is likely for both). 1/21/2018 9:14:03 AM |

I agree with you ^^. It's a good thing for United short-term but could end up hurting long-term if it interrupts Martial's progression. I'm a big Martial fan, United player aside, and think he should be the focal point of the offense. Recent games are proving how proficient he can be with a steady run in the first team.
Also what will Sanchez be like in 4 years on that wage? If that impacts the ability to sign other players (unlikely with all of United's money) then that could be another negative. 1/21/2018 11:20:58 AM |
wazza31 All American 2433 Posts user info edit post |
Sanchez doesn't seem to have many injury problems so I am not sure on his durability but I expect at least peak production in the next 2 years. I don't believe the wage will be a problem. United has actually cut the wage bill by a lot by reducing Zlatan's salary, selling Rooney, and getting rid of some deadwood. If Sanchez can give us 3 good seasons it will have been worth it IMO.
I think Old Trafford knows how important Martial is and I think Mourinho is aware of it too. I do not believe Sanchez has been brought in to play on the left in Martial's position. It will be interesting because I believe Martial is a player we can truly build around. Everytime he has the ball he has the potential of making something happen. I think Sanchez will be a huge lift to the squad because if you really pause and think about it our attack is relatively young. Lukaku, Lingard, Martial, Rashford, and Pogba are all 25 and under (Jesse being the only one at 25). Someone like Sanchez can have a positive impact and also help with our inconsistency/decision making issue in the final third. 1/22/2018 9:50:28 AM |

That Klopp is such a likeable guy. Taking from the rich and giving to the poor. Long may it last. Didn't watch the match so won't say if it was a deserved loss but fucking hell that double miss at the end and VVD celebrating had me laughing. Terrible miss from Firmino and Lallana.
That said what a day to be a united fan. Taking Arsebals best player from city and a Liverpool loss all in one day. 1/22/2018 6:31:58 PM |

Terrible misses? Firmino hit the post and lallana got blocked
One thing Pool miss with Coutinho gone is corner delivery. Salahs efforts were all pretty poor. Also just couldn't break down the midfield to get great chances.
As for deserve, they played 11 behind the ball all game, got 1 chance and converted it. That said, in 10 years Liverpool haven't been able to defend corners, until they learn how they prob deserve any loss that results from a corner goal

Huge. I’m sure not having players like Walcott and Ox anymore wasting his chances was a major draw to him staying. As was the massive wages, of course.
I actually am a little disappointed Giroud is out. I liked what he offered as a chance of pace to Laca/Auba. I have very little bad to say about Sanchez but I do think that Lacazette will be better without him. I counted at least a dozen times he made fantastic runs and Sanchez would dribble around and lose it the last few months when it was apparent he checked out.
