The quality lady that sits diagonal behind me probably spends 1/2 the day talking to her family/kids. Either via phone calls or voice texting (aka hit speak into your phone and it converts it into a text message).

working with all women basically means you can't make any small mistake or joke because everything is a big deal and they hold a grudge forever. ugh

i guess i have done the same thing but i've become increasingly annoyed by other people doing it so i'm trying to be more aware of my reactions.

12pm conference calls

especially annoying when the person who scheduled is in a different time zone and it's not impacting their lunch break

Having an easy action-item day, then getting hit with unscheduled concalls, customer emergencies, and general stupid shit that must be babysitted through. Then before leaving at the end of a long 12 hr day seeing the one thing that had to get done wasn't.

You had one job...

I'm ozone forecasting today and we usually have an assistant forecaster to help with the workload, bounce off ideas/opinions, etc. But he is training today for something and failed to find a replacement. Another guy is also at the same training class, and the only other option still hasn't made it to work yet.

once again my pleasant morning alone was ruined by the lights coming on. i knew it would happen eventually, just didn't know when. for the past 6 years this has been one of the worst parts of my day. and it isn't even 8am

The endless mindless banter coming from my officemate, a late 40's short redhead with nothing better to do than provide narratives about her dogs and what great deals she found at ALDI (except it's ALDI's) and who says "escarow" and "chipolte" instead of "escrow" and "chipotle". In a loud voice. And everything she says is punctuated with a half assed Bob Saget laugh.

Please kill me.

Are you saying she says ALDI's, or correcting her? Because it is ALDI.

[Edited on May 21, 2013 at 9:46 AM. Reason : My mom tried to pronounce Chipotle this weekend. moment]

Regardless, Moes is better.

So when you email me at 12:30 and I don't respond in 5 minutes feel free to email me again. When I don't respond to the second email in 2 minutes, you don't have to call. Maybe just maybe I'm at lunch like everyone else in the world. Okay I'm not at lunch but holy shit maybe my job involves other tasks.

This is pretty much what I have to deal with, though their big thing is talking endlessly about their kids. I'm sure the average age here is at least mid/late 40s, and I'm the youngest in my group by at least 5 years and have no kids. I really think people think I'm antisocial around here, but when they talk about that stuff all the time I don't feel the need to listen to it just to have a conversation.

someone just took over the last available meeting room to meet with a jewelry salesperson, i didn't know stuff like that actually happened. they have a table spread of jewelry and 4 people in there looking at it. wtf.

edit: apparently it supports some charity. still seems really weird.

coworkers calling out "sick" the day before a 3 day weekend. Us semi-responsible employees have to pick up the slack and cover for their classes during our planning periods.

redoing the work that others have done because someone doesn't trust taking someone else's work.

Don't get me wrong, I am glad to be in the position to do most of this, because it's basically good training/review for things I haven't done or haven't done in a long time, but it's a lot of work on top of what's coming.

If we do that, we don't get the holiday as a paid day unless we actually get a doctor's note

As far as my annoyance, I just started a new job and got a company vehicle but the previous driver was a smoker who tried to hide the odor with way too much air-freshener But hooray for not having to pay for gas to commute to/from work

ok

Every employee I have is constantly on their phone. constantly.
when I go to call one of them, they never answer. Ever.

The numbers I have to meet get more ridiculous every quarter, making it increasingly hard to hit my numbers and make my bonus, and I cut costs to the bone as it is. I hate it for the part time employees, but there isn't shit I can do about them having less shifts, I sure as hell can't be sympathetic, I have to work those shifts / positions in their place, and I am salaried. Boo.

The head of navy facilities in the Washington DC area mandated that all thermostats be kept at 80 degrees, with a +/- 2 degree allowance. Everyone in my room has 2-3 computers and 3 monitors, so it is 82 at 630am and is almost impossible to focus on the day to day work.

On top of that, we get an email that says we cannot bring in fans, and that "energy conservation is a team effort". Fucking budget cuts.

^^ time to "adjust" your thermostat. Find an HVAC guy on TWW or find a way to expose the temperature sampler to a very warm air supply
