^^ I think he will be close to TJ but not as consistent due to lesser paint scoring. Cat will have one more year than TJ plus he has improved drastically over a season and I doubt he declines next year. Plus with Lacey and Washington gone he will be looked at to score more often. With a consistent 3 point shot, drives to the basket, high FT%, and steals he will be a scoring machine. He had some games this season when he went off like the Pitt game in the ACCT where he put up 34, I think he can do more against some scrub teams next season. 4/16/2015 2:57:36 PM |

OH, he needs a consistent floater like that prick Paige. If he can add that to his repertoire he will be hard to guard or less he gets violated like in the Duke game. 4/16/2015 3:06:20 PM |

I see teams trapping and doubling Cat like a motherfucker next year. The Martins both just saw their shots per game jump about 200% with Lacey and K-Wash leaving. Going to need both to make that Cat like leap from freshman to sophomore year if we hope to achieve much next year. 4/16/2015 4:58:03 PM |

Cat has a chance to be the man and then some next year. It's going to be his team.
Question is, who plays backup PG when Cat needs a break? Can Henderson? Maybe we bring in another Alex Johnson type. 4/17/2015 8:20:38 AM |

^^i don't think henderson's much of a primary ball handler. I think Cody Martin could play the role in a pinch. But my guess is the staff wants to bring in a grad transfer or late recruit. 4/17/2015 9:30:06 AM |

Quote : | "21. Cat Barber, NC State Wolfpack
Barber stands to inherit a much larger workload within the Wolfpack offense now that Ralston Turner has come to the end of his eligibility and Trevor Lacey elected to submit his name for the NBA draft. Can Barber make the transition from lightning-fast facilitator to lightning-fast scoring point guard? Yes, I suspect he can. After all, without Barber's 17 points against LSU in the round of 64, NC State never even gets the chance to upset Villanova and reach the Sweet 16." |

Allen will start at the 2 over Kennard and he'll be one of the more annoying players in the ACC, fully expect him to be 1st or 2nd team ACC if he stays healthy. Without Allen they don't win a championship, and Coach K will push for experience on the court early in the season.
Ingram might not even start(depends on what line-up they go with and if he really ends up playing the 4 like he said he was), so people are really over-hyping the kid, almost feel bad for him. I think he'll be a really good player, I just think he's going to be like Harrison Barnes where people are disappointed he doesn't dominate right out of the gate.
That being said, Barber as a top 25 player in the nation? That seems like a reach. We NEED him to be, but he hasn't shown the consistency yet in his career for me to buy into that one.

Brandon Ingram at #7...good heavens. This kid had no show games against high school competition. I had to just laugh at charlotte sports talk on the day he committed when they were talking about him being one and done. Unless this kid improves immensely, theres no way in hell thats possible. 5/6/2015 11:54:08 AM |

I'd say negative, more defensive attention without Lacey.
Though he might rack up more assists instead of Lacey scoring in iso. 5/6/2015 3:05:52 PM |
BanjoMan All American 9609 Posts user info edit post |
sure his assist numbers may go up, but I'd bet that he is going to have a much more difficult time getting his shot off and getting space to drive into the lane.
I am trying to recall similar precedent to what we are facing now with Trevor leaving basically what was one of the best 1-2 punches in ACC guard play. Austin Rivers, maybe? 5/6/2015 3:16:43 PM |

These rankings are about ability. Having good games wont make you a better player and having bad games wont make you a worse player and thats why theres do much discrepancy in how people see player rankings.
Cat will almost certainly struggles next season, especially early because thats what happens when you suddenly dont have 2 elite shooters spacing the court with you. That wont mean he has regressed. The team just wont be as balanced offensively and teams will be able to stack the paint behind cats man.
Brogdons good results are less about his individual talent and more about team efficiency. Every uva player will seem a lot better than they really are because the system is so damn good.
Duke players will be super talented but inexperienced so who knows if that will look like this year or something much worse.
I cant beleive the media is setting up fsu to be the "magical surprise team of 2015" when they are clearly loaded with at least two great players. 5/6/2015 3:18:46 PM |

He’s got a really nice jump shot that he can get off almost anytime he wants. Not worried about that at all. He’ll start hitting it soon enough. He was nailing it in the exhibition.
Really been impressed with his willingness to go inside and crash the boards early in the season, though I hope he doesn’t get hurt in there. What little chance we have of a good season hinges on him staying healthy 11/16/2015 11:04:55 AM |
