FPI projects us at 8-4 with losses to FSU, Clemson, and Notre Dame. They have us winning Louisville, although that projection is basically a tossup (51% in our favor, all other games in the 60% and above range).

My original projection was 7-5 and I'm not changing that but I think our schedule looks a bit weaker than I originally anticipated. UNC/Pitt/Cuse/BC look worse than I anticipated, FSU is starting a true freshmen, and Louisville gave up more points to UNC than Cal. Think we have a chance to trend more towards 8-4 then 6-6.

We came out flat after a loss, that's to be expected by now under Doeren.

Stevens and Richardson back next week should improve OL and secondary drastically. Hopefully Valdez isn't too banged up as he looked WAY better than Alston against Marshall.

We'll win convincingly over Furman and look comfortable doing so. This is going to slow some of the fussing and start getting people thinking we can upset FSU because Francois is out.

We're right on schedule if you look at my prediction in this thread.

We can't stop the long ball and it's like Dumbass Dave doesn't even try. He doesn't change schemes, doesn't move a guy over, no double teams...it's pathetic.


And the kicking game/special teams is inexcusable.

Furman is a garbage opponent but so is Dave's defense minus the D-line/LBs. People can't and won't run on us but they will bomb us in the air.

Have we figured out by now that Hines is not an every down back? He needs to be in the slot/return man role. Especially since we've decided to throw the ball 60 times a game.

FSU gets 2 weeks to prepare their new QB for his first game.

If our DL was playing like the preseason hype, I'd think we'd have a shot to really give him fits.

The fact that we can't get pressure with our front 4 and are having to blitz too much...that QB is going to have plenty of wide open guys to hurt us with.

ehh...Hines looked pretty solid vs SCar. and Gallaspy looked pretty bad vs SCar. neither have looked great. i'm not totally ready to write Hines off as a RB. i agree with you about Nichols...thought he looked decent in limited action but has 0 carries so far. i do think he's played on special teams.

what's FSU's new QBs style? is he a runner? big arm?

^Big, mobile, capable, decent hype as a recruit. No reason to think he can't step in and do well, just young and wasn't on campus in the spring I don't think. No reason he won't get his college career off to a great start against us, probably set an FSU record for performance in first ACC start. We typically give up a record like that.

He's a QB at FSU, that should be all you need to know. Jimbo is a "QB guru" and no way he's wasting a scholarship on a guy that isn't at least a 4* and viable back-up.

Not to mention they'll have 3 weeks of practice to prepare him and retool the offense to his skillset. I expect a LOT of running from them and a stingy defense.

Honestly doesn't matter who their QB is, their D is going to be healthy and well-rested for us, I don't think their QB is going to need to throw for over 200 yards to win.

Yeah let's change the scheme we've had installed for multiple years and we spent all summer preparing our guys to run after week 2 because we're averaging 1 injured player a game at CB.

Stevens will be back, Valdez was a 2nd stringer that played well in a half. Alston is back at 2nd string with Stevens back so it shouldn't be a big deal as long as we don't suffer anymore season ending injuries at CB.

Still think losing our DL Coach to the NFL is proving to be a much bigger hurdle than most anticipated.

Win this week and we will be ranked for sure to hype ESPN's thursday night game against louisville. Any win at FSU is a good win but I am tempering expectations because this could end up being a pretty down year for them. Louisville game is clearly super important now.
