Sid has one more year and if you want to keep waiting after that then I suggest you do a ncstatetke and follow sid to his next job.

Look you fucking dope no one is arguing that close losses are good. The point that I made that everyone else seems to understand but you is that we are actually very close to being on the bubble this year despite the fact that we suck and have some unproductive players in the rotation.
We don't need harrow and lo brown to be saviors to make the tournament next year. We need them to make positive contributions. If they do happen to be sick, which may be the case we are a borderline top 25 team next year.
Is it really going to burn your vagina so badly to watch 2-3 more losses this season that you just can't resist having a menstrual attack on the rest of us?
You shouldn't even be allowed to enjoy our success next season 3/1/2010 8:07:40 AM |

The NIT bubble? We are nowhere near the NCAAT. I don't know where you newfound optimism is. We are #116 in the RPI. We aren't even on the NIT bubble yet.

The GT loss was an impressive effort actually. They were MUCH bigger than us and if not for an outstanding game by Peacock we would have had them.
The Clemson game if Scott Wood could hit an open jumper or Smith hits a FT we probably win the game. " |
I hate it when people say shit like this. You know why?? Because every team we beat can say the same shit about why they lost. That's why a Win is a Win and a Loss is a Loss. Shut the fuck up with shit like this.3/1/2010 12:13:27 PM |

Again every point I make goes over your head.
If you take five very close losses and turn them into wins holding all else equal we are a bubble team RIGHT NOW.
All that is assuming is that we are marginally better next year which is a very safe assumption as we aren't losing anything, have good incoming talent, and have a young rotation which should be better next year.
Do you really think harrow won't be an improvement over mays at the backup pg position??
Follow along.
I can't make a valid predicition of our record next year when we have no idea if we have superfrosh yet or just solid contributors. Also we don't know yet for sure if our competitors are losing davis, lawal, favors, aminu, and alabi or other random transfers.
Its very likely that most of them will be gone (lawal being the most uncertain) but obviously that's an important detail 3/1/2010 12:19:36 PM |

if you take ASU's close losses against Duke, BYU, Baylor, Cal x 2, they'd be 25-4 with a top-20 RPI and would be a lock for a #2 or #3 seed in the tourney 3/1/2010 12:24:21 PM |

^^ that is patently false.
We have the oldest statistics program in the fucking country and the sick part us 80pct of our student population and alumni is too stupid to understand an intro course.
You show me where in this seasons data set we have won a game on an single play (event) that had a ~2% or less of happening. Also show me a game that we won that we would have lost if their most significant player was missing for.
How do you look at this data and control for noise?
Oh that's right you lack the reading comprehension to understand the point so you can't even begin to grapple with statistical analysis so you go with a "win is a win and a loss is a loss". Where do I sign up for your philosophy course you fucking lesbo-rights preserving, obama voting, twig and nut eating loon? 3/1/2010 12:36:05 PM |

Problem is we still have Sidney as coach. He hasn't shown me any ability to develop talent. And when he is able to bring in top talent, he can't build a cohesive team that can win games. Next year may be different. But we're banking a lot on 2 incoming freshmen and a still unproven coach.3/1/2010 1:01:33 PM |

Yeah, there was a great story on Smith that talked about the coaches working with him in practice. This is the one that talked about them using a broom to simulate taller players. It also talked about the coaches helping to get his left hand on par with his right hand (when shooting). He basically gave the coaching staff credit for turning him into the player he is today. 3/1/2010 2:07:21 PM |

It is amazing how much a 2 game win streak will change people's opinion of our guards. A week ago they didn't have the talent to carry Smith's jock strap without turning it over.

He's not saying he's a great PG. He's saying he's improved since he's been here. Some nights, Javi is truly great. Others, he's pretty average.
Regardless, he's much better than he was a freshman. 3/1/2010 4:33:41 PM |

Exacatly. Javi is an average to below average ACC pg, who has had some great games this season. He's improved each year and come a long way since his freshman year. He's still an average to below average ACC pg though. It is what it is. 3/1/2010 4:36:12 PM |

agreed, Javi has definitely improved every year that he's been here, the only problem is, he doesnt have a very high ceiling so he probably wont ever be an elite or even above average PG in the acc. If he were to be a little more consistent in his shots (when he needs to actually be a shooter) and improve his assist to turnover ratio he would be a good game manager type PG, but he'll never be a real difference maker.
Harrow is coming in with the ability to be a game-changing PG, not just a game manager 3/1/2010 5:07:29 PM |

Javi has shown a lot of improvement over the last few weeks too!!!
last 3 games = 1 turnover per game previous 3 games = 5 turnovers per game
p.s. i hope he can go the rest of the season with less than 12 turnovers! don't want to reach the dubious 100 turnover plateau
