i agree it's a different experience on a pvp server, but i guess i disagree about it being a better or more fun experience. i can see the challenge of always having to watch your back or roll in packs to quest in contested zones, and how that might make you a better pvp'er earlier on, but for me i'd rather keep that in the battlegrounds or capital cities. i generally find the player-base on pvp servers to be a lot more immature overall, full of know-it-all teen FPS rejects who are on a constant quest to assert their superiority, and that outweighs the challenge factor.

what is the quickest way to gain reputation for one of the main factions? I want to ride a mount of another faction when i hit 40 with a character.

Go back and do all their quests from scratch? Farm linen or wool or other stuff with higher level characters? what?

it would take you a long long time to get it at 40, id wait until 60. but yea quests, and different turn ins in alterac valley. as well as different cloth material turn ins and a lot of the turn ins for the AQ stuff.

Doing it by level 40 is almost impossible I think. I don't believe you can do runecloth turn ins until level 50, which is the only one that is repeatable. Doing all the quests you can do with that faction won't yield enough to get you any more than honored, perhaps revered if you're really lucky. You'd be better looking toward 60 to ride that other faction mount.

Or I could be totally wrong. You guys tell me...

nah. You turn in 60 wool then 60 silk maybe another 60 mageweave but i dont remember.

Then you get a repeatable quest for stacks of 20 runecloth.

You'd have better luck doing faction quests and AQ turn ins for rep.

AHH the joys of sitting in Ironforge watching the PvP kiddies talk shit to Medivh.

All the while we maintain our lead on the war effort.

And as far as HAVING to work together across factions, when the server's two highest raiding guilds <Fury> (Alliance) and <Ascent> (Horde) took down Eranikus, they were all standing side by side flagged (since you become flagged as soon as you attack Eranikus).

They worked together the entire time to get him to the point that he is redeemed and got what they needed for the quest.

Then the entire zone of moonglade lagged unconrollably as 100+ Lvl 60s with Tier2 gear unloaded on one another. That battle was almost better than the Eranikus fight.

And soon they're gonna do it again so <Ascent> can get their scepter made.

honestly our server couldnt careless if we get the gates open first. we are using the time to get in some awesome world PVP. and in fact hte guilds who havent completed BWL are working on trying to hold it off on our server so that the uber guilds ahead of everyone else dont get to put all their time into that and get even more ahead

besides our server is right on track if not ahead of you all on actual events (we had the scepter done a day before i think)

its just our turn ins that are taking longer due to more pvp than farming going on

Do you want to know WHY this happened?

Were you ever corpse camped for an hour by a skull level 60 when you were level 35 trying to complete quests in Stranglethorn Vale?

Did you ever get ambushed constantly by a rogue while trying to quest in Hillsbrad?

Did you ever get killed by a rogue in Gadgetstan who then vanished so the guards could not kill him?

If you answered "no" to all of these questions, which you did, then you did not experience the complete frustration, cursing at the screen, and absolute hatred you develop for the opposing faction while playing on a PVP server.

This is why your two factions did not give a shit about attacking each other. You grew up living in a peaceful world, not a war torn battleground.

I guarantee if cross server battlegrounds open up and they allow PVP-PVE battlegrounds that any PUG from Stormscale will stomp the hell out of the best guild group on Medivh.

solutions to all of these problems:
1) DONT QUEST IN STV. This area sucks ass anyway.

2) DONT QUEST IN HILLSBRAD. This area also sucks ass.

3) THE GRAVEYARD IS 5 FT AWAY from Gadgdetzan. What's the big deal?

I intentionally stayed away from stv and hillsbrad for this very reason, because i've leveled characters to 60 and discovered that those areas are very difficult because of pvp.

essentially what you have with the advent of battlegrounds is the end of a need for PvP servers.

The only difference between PvE and PvP now is griefing. You simply cannot argue that any structured or strategic PvP happens outside of battlegrounds on a PvP server that does not also happen on a PvE server(i.e. xroads raids or TM cluster fucks)

Warcraft is no longer about Alliance vs Horde.

its about Kalimdor vs the burning legion and arthas.

The only argument you could make for alliance vs horde being a focal point is with the undead faction. but its made rediculously clear that the undead are in an alliance of convenience with the rest of the horde and they have no true loyalties.

i think he is referring to the whole "We must band together to wage war against the Ahn'Quiraji" thing that is going on right now...

and i don't care what kind of server you are on, riding into the other side's home cities is a good way to get killed... however the first time i wanted to get to RFC to farm Linen, i stood outside Orgrimmar and a priest stood there and mind controlled me into orgrimmar to halve the opportunity for me to be attacked, and since then, horde can ride to the stockades free of being attacked by other players, and alliance can ride into RFC with the same consideration...

A week before the event started, i would have been dead before i got anywhere close to RFC. And a week after the event is over, i will encounter the same situation. But for now, for this purpose, the Alliance and the Horde have banded together once again to wage war against a common enemy.
